Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer 2 – Apigee Fullstack Java with strong expertise in Apigee and Java development. The ideal candidate will have a strong programming background and hands-on experience in cloud technologies, API management, microservices, containerisation, CI/CD, databases, observability, and modern full-stack development.

The role requires a technically strong professional who can take ownership of technical solutions, contribute to solution design, lead development activities, identify and resolve complex technical issues, and work effectively with business, technology, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and support high-quality applications using Apigee and Java. Lead technical analysis, specification, estimation, development, implementation, and support of software solutions. Work closely with digital technology teams to ensure solutions meet functional, technical, and user experience requirements.

Develop new and enhance existing applications in line with application designs, development standards, methodologies, and strategic architecture frameworks. Work as a technical lead alongside technical SMEs on projects of varying scope and complexity. Provide technical input to solution design teams, including application breakdown, impact analysis, and validation of proposed solutions.

Proactively identify technical issues and recommend effective solutions throughout the project lifecycle. Evaluate existing products and solutions and identify practical opportunities for improvement. Drive improvements in development practices, technical standards, and documentation.

Take ownership of maintaining and expanding development standards within the technical domain. Work with business owners and solution designers to lead Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and validate end-to-end solutions. Investigate and recommend new technologies and methodologies that can improve development practices and product capabilities.

Take ownership of resolving domain-specific issues that may impact operational services or development activities. Manage implementation activities, change control, and release planning. Maintain and improve internal documentation for products and technical solutions.





Act as a technical point of contact and provide domain-specific support to other teams. Build and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional technology and business teams.

Technical

Skills – Must Have 10+ years of software development experience with a strong programming background. Strong hands-on experience in Apigee and Java. Strong experience with JavaScript, Node.js, and TypeScript or equivalent technologies.

Experience with GCP, or equivalent experience with AWS and/or Azure. Hands-on experience with application containerisation using Docker.

Experience with Kubernetes, preferably GKE and/or AKS.

Experience with event-driven architectures using GCP Pub/Sub and Kafka. Strong understanding of domain modelling, services, microservices, and composable architectures.

Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio and circuit-breaker patterns.

Experience with Micro Frontend (MFE) frameworks using Webpack 5 and Module Federation.

Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, and Redis. Strong experience in CI/CD pipeline automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.

Experience with automated testing and quality tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, Gatling, JMeter, SonarQube, ESLint, and Selenium.

Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana. Exposure to documentation-as-code practices and tools such as Backstage.io, GitHub repositories, and README documentation. Robust ability to design RESTful APIs, create API proxies, perform data transformation, and implement controls using Apigee policies. Strong understanding of API security, OAuth authentication, API traffic management, and API error handling.
