Senior Lead Designer - Exterior Trims (Bumpers, Claddings, side moldings, roof rails, ORVM, quarter glass, etc.)

nResponsibilities/ task Key Responsibilities of the Senior Lead Engineer include managing and guiding the technical aspects of designing the Exterior trim ensuring delivery of quality, functional, and aesthetically appealing components that meet safety, regulatory and cost requirements.

nTechnical Expertise:

nExposure to global requirements for trim engineering & design. Must have handled 2-3 projects of (Bumpers, Claddings, side moldings, roof rails, ORVM, quarter glass, etc.) throughout the product lifecycle.

nShould be able to develop the Master sections, Concept design & converge them into detail engineering, ensuring that the systems meet all Manufacturing, function & safety requirements

nExpertise in materials used for exterior trims (plastics, composites) and knowledge of manufacturing processes like injection molding, compression molding, and thermoforming.

nShould have hands on Experience on CATIA V6 & 3D Experience PLM to manage the Exterior trim product design activity

nEnsure that exterior components are properly integrated with other vehicle systems (e.g., chassis & Body structure) and that designs are compatible with the overall vehicle architecture.

nTo follow defined processes & customer standards and maintain quality and delivery targets in day-to-day customer deliveries.

nQuality and manufacturing Drawing Creation considering 3-2-1 principle, car positioning & Geometrical dimensioning -Tolerance etc.

nShould be able to prepare the technical documents i.e. DFMEA, DFA, DFM, DFS, Gap & flush document

nMust be able to read the Digital simulation reports & able to provide the solution accordingly.

nEnsure that exterior components meet NVH performance targets, focusing on minimizing cabin noise and vibrations.





nFamiliarity with global automotive safety and environmental regulations (FMVSS, ECE) related to exterior components

nTo follow defined processes & customer standards and maintain quality and delivery targets in day-to-day customer deliveries

nAbility to analyze complex design challenges, troubleshoot issues, and develop creative solutions.

nShould able to identify opportunities for innovation in materials, design, and manufacturing processes to improve the quality, cost, and performance of exterior components

nDesign Leadership:

nTake ownership of the complete design and development process for Exterior components & systems, from concept till production.

nExperience leading and mentoring Team performance, providing technical guidance and ensuring collaboration across teams.

nStrong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams such as product management, styling, manufacturing, and suppliers.

nAbility to understand the project plan and its milestones, set priorities accordingly, and meet deadlines. Experience with project management tools is additionally advantageous.

nLead the validation of Exterior components through physical testing (e.g., thermal, vibration, durability) and ensure that designs meet all performance and safety standards.

nEducational Qualification

nB.E.in Mechanical or Production (college of technology / university) OR Post Diploma / Diploma in Mechanical or Production or Industrial Engineering (college of technology / university)

nNo. of years of work experience 14 to 15 Years Critical
