Call for Expression of Interest (EOI) / Nominations

SCO Chair on Shared Buddhist Heritage

Nalanda University, an internationally acclaimed institution of higher learning under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, invites Expressions of Interest

(EOI) / nominations from distinguished Indian scholars for the prestigious SCO Chair on

Shared Buddhist Heritage.

This Chair has been instituted as a significant academic initiative aligned with India’s engagement with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), aiming to promote research,

dialogue, and academic collaboration on shared Buddhist heritage across SCO member countries.

Eligibility Criteria:

- The applicant must be an eminent scholar of Indian nationality.
- Must hold the position of Professor or equivalent in a recognized institution of higher

education.
- Demonstrated expertise and significant contribution in the field of Buddhist Studies

or allied disciplines.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience at the level of Professor.
- Age limit between 55 and 75 years.

Roles and Responsibilities:



The selected Chair will be expected to:

- Undertake high-quality research on themes related to shared Buddhist heritage.
- Develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and academic programmes.
- Foster international academic collaboration among SCO member states.
- Contribute to policy and scholarly discourse in the domain.

Emoluments and Tenure:

- Consolidated remuneration of ₹3,00,000/- per month.
- Extra benefits and entitlements as per University norms.
