Role & responsibilities
Manage and monitor the company's safety and compliance program for Canadian transportation operations.
Review and maintain driver qualification files, vehicle records, inspection records, training records, incident reports, and other safety documentation.
Monitor driver compliance with applicable Canadian transportation safety requirements and company policies.
Regularly review driver logs, hours of service, inspection reports, maintenance records, and other compliance documents.
Conduct internal safety audits and identify deficiencies requiring corrective action.
Follow up with drivers and operations staff to ensure identified safety issues are corrected promptly.
Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and maintain proper documentation.
Prepare safety reports, compliance reports, audit summaries, and corrective action plans for management.
Monitor vehicle maintenance and inspection compliance and coordinate with the Canadian operations team regarding upcoming requirements.
Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, forms, checklists, and training materials.
Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions remotely with drivers and staff in Canada.
Stay updated on applicable Canadian transportation safety regulations and requirements.
Assist management in preparing for safety audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries.
Work closely with the Canadian management and operations team to maintain a strong safety culture and ensure timely compliance.
Preferred candidate profile
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in transportation safety, fleet safety, compliance, logistics, or a similar role.
Strong understanding of transportation safety and compliance requirements.
Experience with driver qualification files, hours of service, vehicle inspections, maintenance records, incident reporting, and safety audits.
Experience working with Canadian transportation regulations will be strongly preferred.
Experience with Alberta transportation safety requirements will be considered a significant advantage.
Robust knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong documentation, organizational, analytical, and follow-up skills.
Ability to work independently and coordinate with a team located in Canada.
Must be comfortable working according to Canadian business hours/time zones, including occasional schedule adjustments as required.
Candidates with experience in Canadian trucking, fleet operations, transportation compliance, or NSC-related safety programs will be preferred.
