To program, operate, set up and optimize ABB robotic welding systems to achieve consistent weld quality, maximum robot utilization and required production targets while ensuring compliance with safety, quality and process standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Program, operate and troubleshoot ABB robotic welding systems.
- Create, modify and optimize robot programs for different welding components.
- Set and adjust welding parameters such as current, voltage, wire feed speed, travel speed and welding sequence.
- Perform robot teaching/programming using the teach pendant.
- Set robot TCP (Tool Centre Point), work object, reference points and welding positions.
- Develop and modify robot paths to achieve proper weld accessibility and consistent weld quality.
- Set up welding fixtures, jigs, torch position and workpiece alignment.
- Carry out robot touch-up, calibration and recovery during production.
- Monitor robotic welding operations and ensure smooth production.
- Identify and rectify common welding defects such as porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, spatter and improper weld profile.
- Troubleshoot robot alarms, program errors, wire-feeding issues and welding equipment problems.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality,



Maintenance and Engineering teams for process improvement.
- Ensure compliance with WPS, drawings, welding standards and quality requirements.
- Maintain robot programs, parameter records and production documentation.
- Support cycle-time reduction, productivity improvement and robot utilization.
- Follow all safety, 5S and PPE requirements while operating robotic welding equipment.

Required Skills

- Hands-on experience in ABB robotic welding.
- Knowledge of ABB Robot Programming / RAPID language is preferred.
- Good knowledge of MIG/MAG welding process.
- Experience in robot teaching and path optimization.
- Knowledge of welding fixtures, jigs and torch setup.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Basic knowledge of WPS, PQR and welding parameters.
- Knowledge of welding defects and their corrective actions.
- Basic troubleshooting knowledge of robot and welding equipment.
- Valuable analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualification

- Diploma / ITI / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Mechatronics, Welding or related discipline.

Experience

- 2–5 years in ABB robotic welding/programming preferred.
