Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Mumbai, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. The Rice and Dal Commodity Professional / Procurement Specialist / Manager will focus on sourcing, negotiating, and procuring rice and dal from domestic and international suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring market trends and price movements, conducting supplier evaluations, managing contracts, and coordinating with logistics and finance teams for smooth execution of trades.

The role also involves maintaining robust relationships with producers,



processors, and traders, analyzing demand and inventory levels, and supporting risk management and compliance requirements. The specialist will collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business goals and contribute to building a scalable, reliable commodity supply platform.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of agricultural commodities, specifically rice and dal, including grades, quality parameters, and regional sourcing markets.
- Experience in procurement, commodity trading, or supply chain management, preferably within food or agricultural sectors.
- Skills in market analysis, price trend monitoring, and basic risk assessment for commodity purchases.
- Ability to negotiate with suppliers, manage contracts, and maintain long-term commercial relationships.
- Competence in logistics coordination, documentation, and working with cross-border transactions.
- Proficiency with Excel and other data tools for tracking prices, inventories, and procurement performance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple procurement activities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or a related field; relevant postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Prior experience working in or with Mumbai-based commodity markets or trading houses is preferred.
