Research Internship Programme
(For Recent Graduates of Nalanda University)
Nalanda University invites Expressions of Interest from motivated and outstanding young researchers who are interested in contributing to research, policy analysis, and institution-
building initiatives of the following Centres:
- Kautilya Global Centre for State Capacity
- Centre for South East Asia Studies
- Centre for Studies in Development and Sustainability
The internship at the Kautilya Global Centre for State Capacity offers an chance to engage with interdisciplinary research on governance, public policy, state capacity, leadership, institutions, civilizational thought, and development. At the Centre for South East Asia Studies,
the internship offers an opportunity to engage with interdisciplinary research on Southeast Asia,
including its history, cultures, societies, economies, politics, regional institutions, connectivity,
and contemporary developments. The internship at the Centre for Studies in Development and
Sustainability offers an opportunity to work on interdisciplinary research and outreach initiatives related to development, sustainability, climate change, ecological transitions,
livelihoods, public policy, social inclusion, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Interns will work closely with the respective Centre's research team and contribute to ongoing projects, publications, events, and outreach activities.
Key Responsibilities
Selected interns will be expected to:
- Undertake literature reviews, policy scans, and background research.
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and preparation of research briefs.
- Support the drafting and editing of reports, concept notes, policy papers, and academic
outputs.
- Contribute to the organization of conferences, workshops, lectures, and training
programmes.
- Assist in documentation, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge-management
activities.
- Support communication, outreach,
and dissemination initiatives of the Centre.
- Perform other research and programme-related tasks assigned by the Centre.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should
- Have graduated from Nalanda University with a Master's degree in May 2026 with
minimum 60 percentage/6.0 CGPA.
- Demonstrate strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Possess the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further interaction.
- Show interest in research areas that are in alignment with the focus areas of the
respective Centres.
- Be proficient in English; additional language skills will be an advantage.
Fellowship and Support
- Fellowship Amount: ₹30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand only) per month.
- Access to the University's academic, library, and research facilities.
- Medical facilities as per university norms
- Accommodation in the Residential Halls and Dinning on payment basis, subject to
availability and as per University norms.
Expected Research Inputs
Interns will be required to produce:
- Research notes and literature reviews.
- Policy briefs and analytical summaries.
- Event reports and knowledge products.
- Data and documentary compilations.
- Contributions to publications and research projects of the Centre.
Duration and Support The internship will be for an initial period of one year, extendable for another one year based on performance and project requirements. Interns will receive a monthly stipend as per University norms and access to relevant institutional resources.
