Role Description The Registrar / Senior Registrar role is a full-time, in office position based at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai. The role involves providing day-to-day clinical support in inpatient and outpatient settings, including taking patient histories, conducting examinations, documenting findings, and assisting in diagnosis and treatment planning under the supervision of senior clinicians.
Responsibilities include ordering and following up on investigations, monitoring patient progress, updating medical records, and participating in ward rounds and clinical case discussions.
The Registrar / Senior Registrar is expected to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure adherence to clinical protocols, support emergency and on-call duties as required, and contribute to patient education and counseling. The role may also involve participation in academic activities, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to support continuous enhancement of patient care standards.
Qualifications
- Relevant medical qualification (MBBS with completed internship; MD/MS or DNB in a relevant specialty preferred for Senior Registrar). Valid medical registration with appropriate statutory body.
- Clinical competence in history taking, physical examination, interpretation of investigations, and formulation of management plans in a hospital setting.
- Strong skills in medical documentation, case reporting, and maintenance of accurate, timely electronic and paper records.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with consultants, nursing staff, allied health professionals, patients, and families.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, infection control, and adherence to hospital protocols and regulatory standards.
- Capability to handle busy clinical workloads, manage time efficiently, and perform under pressure in acute and emergency care environments.
- Willingness to participate in academic activities, clinical audits, and continuous professional development, including regular CME programs and training.
- Prior experience in a tertiary-care or high-volume hospital setting is an advantage; exposure to advanced technologies and specialized procedures is beneficial.
