Position: Radio Officer / Marine Electro-Technical & Radio Officer

Location: Navi Mumbai / Mumbai, India (Candidates residing in or around Vashi / Navi Mumbai or within a convenient commuting distance preferred)

Industry: Offshore Shipping / Marine Operations

Fleet Exposure: PSV | AHTS | DP1 | DP2 (Experience on ONGC or offshore-chartered vessels preferred)

About the Role

Glory Shipmanagement is looking for an experienced, competent, and hands-on Radio Officer to join our offshore fleet operations. You will take ownership of all shipboard radio communications, satellite navigation systems, and Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) apparatus. Working closely with shipboard officers and shore-based management, you will ensure continuous operational communication, regulatory compliance, and equipment readiness across our fleet.

Key Responsibilities

- GMDSS & Emergency Operations: Oversee all GMDSS radio operations (VHF, MF/HF, Inmarsat, EPIRBs, SARTs, NAVTEX). Maintain constant emergency readiness and handle distress, urgency, and safety communications in full compliance with international maritime standards.
- Navigation & Satellite Systems: Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate shipboard satellite communications (VSAT, Inmarsat-C), radar systems, and navigational electronics to ensure seamless data and voice links between vessels, charterers, and shore teams.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audits: Ensure complete adherence to ITU, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and DG Shipping regulations. Assist in preparing radio apparatus and logs for Port State Control (PSC), Flag State Inspections, Class Surveys, and internal/external safety audits.
- Weather & Navigational Briefings:



Monitor and compile daily weather broadcasts, NAVAREA warnings, and oceanographic reports for the Master and offshore operational teams.
- Maintenance & Record Keeping: Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on radio equipment, emergency batteries, and communication hardware. Maintain accurate radio logs, battery condition registers, and statutory documentation.
- Cross-Departmental Support: Liaise effectively with shipboard crew, shore-based superintendents, and maritime authorities during offshore operations, port calls, and emergency response drills.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Certification: Valid GMDSS General Operator’s Certificate (GOC) issued by an approved maritime administration.
- Sailing Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of sailing experience as a Radio Officer or combined Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) with radio duties, ideally on offshore support vessels (PSV, AHTS, DP1, DP2).
- Offshore Familiarity: Prior experience on ONGC-chartered vessels or ocean-going offshore fleets is highly desirable.
- STCW & Documents: Valid STCW '95/2010 Basic Safety Training certificates, valid Seafarer Medical Certificate, Passport, and Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).
- Technical & Soft Skills: Strong operational knowledge of marine electronics, satellite systems, and IT networking onboard, combined with excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
