About the Role The Quality Head for the Leaf Spring Division will lead the complete Quality function and establish a customer-focused, zero-defect quality culture.

Responsibilities

- Control quality across spring steel receiving, cutting, heating, rolling, tapering, eye forming, hot forming and assembly.
- Ensure control of heat treatment parameters, hardness, microstructure, decarburization and mechanical properties.
- Control shot peening intensity and coverage for fatigue performance.
- Ensure dimensional control of camber, arch, eye dimensions, thickness, width and critical characteristics.
- Control load/stiffness, deflection and functional test requirements.
- Drive fatigue-life validation, durability testing and performance consistency.
- Control coating, painting and corrosion-protection quality.
- Reduce cracks, hardness variation, dimensional variation, camber variation, rework and scrap.
- Own customer quality performance and act as senior quality interface for OEMs and Tier-1 customers.
- Manage customer complaints, 8D, root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
- Drive reduction in customer PPM, line rejection, warranty and repeat complaints.
- Ensure timely PPAP submissions and customer approvals.
- Review PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, MSA, SPC and capability studies.
- Establish launch-quality gates and validate processes before SOP.
- Maintain and strengthen IATF 16949 and applicable ISO systems.
- Lead internal, process, product and system audits.
- Ensure effective closure of customer, certification and internal audit findings.




- Monitor supplier PPM, material quality, hardness, chemistry, mechanical properties and corrective actions.
- Drive Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Reduce internal rejection, rework, scrap, customer returns, warranty and COPQ.
- Improve process capability and product reliability, particularly fatigue and durability performance.
- Lead and develop Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Customer Quality, Supplier Quality and Quality Systems teams.
- Set KPIs, review performance and develop technical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Build succession capability and a strong quality leadership pipeline.

Qualifications

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Metallurgy preferred; Quality certification an advantage.
- 15–20+ years of progressive experience in Quality Management within automotive manufacturing.
- Strong experience in Automotive Leaf Springs / Suspension Systems / Auto Components is highly preferred.
- Strong OEM / Tier-1 customer quality exposure.

Required Skills

- Hands-on expertise in IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plan and 8D.
- Robust knowledge of leaf spring manufacturing, heat treatment, metallurgy, shot peening, fatigue testing and dimensional/functional testing.
