SD Industries, LLC (SDI) is seeking a technically solid and hands-on Project Manager to support construction projects from initial planning and procurement through fabrication, installation, closeout, and final completion.
We are looking for someone with a solid engineering foundation, practical field experience, and the ability to coordinate effectively between clients, engineers, vendors, fabricators, subcontractors, and field teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate projects from award through final closeout .
- Review construction drawings, specifications, scope documents, and project requirements.
- Understand and manage the complete construction project lifecycle , including:
- Planning and scope review
- Engineering and shop drawings
- Material takeoffs and BOQs
- RFQs and vendor procurement
- Submittals and approvals
- Fabrication coordination
- Delivery and logistics
- Field installation
- Inspections, punch lists, and closeout
- Prepare and review BOQs, RFQs, RFIs, submittals, and related project documentation .
- Consolidate material quantities from multiple drawings and specifications for procurement.
- Identify suitable vendors and suppliers and prepare clear RFQ communications.
- Coordinate material sourcing, pricing, availability, and delivery requirements.
- Identify situations requiring:
- RFIs
- Material substitutions
- Change orders
- Additional client or consultant clarification
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, including:
- General Contractors
- Owners
- Architects
- Engineers
- Consultants
- Subcontractors
- Vendors
- Fabrication teams
- Field installation teams
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Prepare basic Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project schedules using Excel, Gantt charts, or project management software.
- Understand scheduling concepts including dependencies, milestones, and critical path .
- Monitor project budgets, procurement status, production progress, and field activities.
- Track open items and proactively follow up with responsible parties to prevent delays.
- Coordinate between office and field teams to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
- Maintain organized project documentation and provide explicit progress updates to management and clients.
- Assist with change-order identification, documentation, pricing coordination, and submission.
- Support multiple active projects while maintaining priorities and deadlines.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, with preference in the following order:
1. Mechanical Engineering
2. Civil Engineering
3. Electrical Engineering
4. Electronics & Communication Engineering
- Diploma followed by B.E./B.Tech through lateral entry is highly preferred , particularly where the diploma provided practical technical exposure.
- Relevant additional technical or construction-related training is a plus.
Experience:
- Ideally up to approximately 4 years of relevant construction experience .
- Strong preference for candidates with approximately:
- 2+ years of hands-on field/site experience , and
- Additional experience in project coordination, engineering coordination, or project management.
- Experience may be from any construction sector; specific experience in architectural metals, glazing, signage, or ornamental metals is preferred but not mandatory .
- Candidates must have practical construction experience rather than exclusively software/IT project management experience.

- Practical, resourceful, and willing to learn new systems and processes as required.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has genuine construction field exposure and understands how work is executed onsite.
- Has transitioned from field or engineering work into project coordination/management.
- Can read drawings and convert information into actionable quantities, RFQs, procurement requirements, and schedules.
- Understands how the different stakeholders in a construction project interact.
- Can independently research materials and vendors.
- Is comfortable managing multiple moving parts rather than working within a narrowly defined role.
- Demonstrates continuous learning that is directly applicable to their work.
- Has remained actively involved in engineering or construction and kept their technical knowledge current.
- PMP or other formal project-management certification is not required for this position. Practical construction knowledge, field experience, technical capability, communication skills, and the ability to manage projects effectively will carry greater weight.
