Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Process Improvement Manager with strong hands-on knowledge of manufacturing and process improvement across forging, machine shop, welding, drilling, and paint shop operations. The candidate will be responsible for improving productivity, quality, process capability, cycle time, manpower utilization, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes across:
- Forging / Hammer Forging
- Machine Shop – CNC, VMC, Turning, Milling
- Welding
- Drilling
- Paint Shop
- Identify bottlenecks, process losses, excess cycle time, rejection, rework, and productivity gaps.
- Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce cycle time, setup time, tool consumption, rejection, rework, and manufacturing cost.
- Conduct time studies and establish standard cycle times and process parameters.
- Improve machine utilization, manpower productivity, line balancing, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Optimize process flow, layout, material movement, and workstation design.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, NPD, and PPC teams.
- Prepare and improve SOPs, work instructions, process sheets, control plans, and standard operating methods.
- Analyze production data and identify root causes using 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and other problem-solving techniques.
- Lead improvement projects and monitor savings and measurable results.
- Support recent product development, process trials, tooling improvements, and capacity enhancement.
- Ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Train production teams and operators on improved processes and standardized work.
- Prepare regular MIS/KPI reports covering productivity, rejection, OEE, downtime, cycle time, and cost savings.
Required Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of forging and automotive component manufacturing.
- Good understanding of CNC/VMC, drilling, welding, machining, and paint shop processes.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, OEE, Six Sigma, and Industrial Engineering concepts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in process optimization, capacity improvement, and cost reduction.
- Ability to lead cross-functional improvement projects.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing documentation and process standardization.
Qualification
B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred Experience
Candidates from automotive, auto-component, forging, machining, or engineering manufacturing industries will be preferred.
