Fund Manager – Alternative Investment Fund (Category II)

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Work Mode: On-site

Department: Investment Management

Compensation: ₹25–35 LPA (Negotiable)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Fund Manager / Portfolio Manager to lead investment decisions and manage the portfolio of a SEBI-regulated Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF).

The role will involve managing the complete investment lifecycle, including deal sourcing, due diligence, financial analysis, portfolio construction, monitoring, valuation, exits, investor reporting, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in private equity, growth capital, structured/private credit, alternative investments, and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute investment strategies across private equity, growth capital, structured/private credit, and real assets within the Category II AIF framework.
- Build and manage a diversified investment portfolio and monitor portfolio performance, returns, concentration, sector, and risk exposure.
- Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities through deal sourcing and fundamental research.
- Perform financial modelling, DCF valuation, EV/EBITDA and P/E multiple analysis, and scenario/sensitivity analysis.
- Conduct business due diligence, management assessments, and sector analysis before investment decisions.
- Identify and evaluate exit opportunities such as strategic sales, IPOs, secondary sales, and buybacks.




- Ensure investment activities comply with applicable SEBI AIF Regulations, AIF Master Circular, FEMA, PMLA, and other relevant requirements.
- Coordinate with the Investment Committee, compliance team, custodian, valuers, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare quarterly and annual investor reports covering NAV, portfolio performance, investment outlook, and risk commentary.
- Communicate investment strategies and portfolio updates to HNIs, family offices, and institutional investors.
- Support fundraising, investor presentations, due diligence questionnaires, and investor onboarding.
- Oversee portfolio valuation using appropriate methodologies including DCF, market multiples, and IPEV guidelines.
- Monitor fund performance metrics such as IRR, TVPI, DPI, RVPI, and J-curve.
- Lead and mentor investment and research team members.
- Establish and maintain investment risk management frameworks.
- Present investment proposals and investment memos to the Investment Committee.
- Manage co-investment opportunities and support fund distribution and capital-raising initiatives.

Education & Qualifications
- MBA in Finance, or
- Chartered Accountant (CA), or
- CFA Charterholder

Preferred Certification
- NISM Series-XIX-C (Alternative Investment Fund Managers) or




- NISM Series-XIX-D (Category I & II AIF Managers)

NISM certification is preferred but not mandatory at the application stage. Candidates with relevant fund management experience who do not currently hold the certification are encouraged to apply.

Experience Required

- Proven experience in private equity, growth capital, structured/private credit, or alternative investment strategies.
- Direct fund or portfolio management experience with a SEBI-registered Category II or Category III AIF is expected.
- Candidates with substantial hands-on fund/portfolio management exposure are also eligible, even if they have not spent their entire career exclusively in AIF management.
- Experience should include practical involvement in deal execution, portfolio decisions, investment committee participation, or fund management.
- Prior experience with an AIF, AMC, PMS, or Category III/hedge fund will be strongly preferred.
