Key responsibilities are

Dispensing medications: Accurately review prescriptions, prepare and dispense medicines, and ensure correct dosage and labeling.

Patient counseling: Explain how to take medicines, possible side effects, precautions, storage, and interactions.

Prescription review: Check prescriptions for appropriate doses, allergies, contraindications, drug interactions, and duplication of therapy.

Medication management: Monitor medication effectiveness and help patients use their medicines safely and correctly.

Inventory management: Maintain adequate medicine stock, monitor expiry dates, and ensure proper storage conditions.

Medication safety: Prevent and identify medication errors and report adverse drug reactions when appropriate.

Healthcare collaboration: Work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient treatment.





Record keeping: Maintain accurate prescription, medication, controlled-drug, and other required records.

Legal and skilled compliance: Follow pharmacy laws, regulations, standard operating procedures, and professional ethics.

Health promotion: Provide advice on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, vaccinations where authorized, and appropriate use of over-the-counter medicines.

Overall, the pharmacist’s primary responsibility is to protect patient safety and achieve the best possible outcomes from medication therapy.
