About the Role
We are looking for a highly disciplined and experienced Operations Manager to take ownership of the end-to-end operations, logistics, excise coordination, dispatch and distribution of our Alcohol Manufacturing / Alcobev business.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth movement of finished alcohol products from manufacturing and finished-goods storage through dispatch, transportation, CSD and retail distribution.
This is a hands-on role requiring robust operational discipline, documentation, compliance awareness, transportation control, inventory management and field coordination.
The ideal candidate will preferably come from a retired Army or Navy background and should be comfortable taking complete ownership of operations, coordinating multiple teams and handling operational issues independently.
Key Responsibilities1. End-to-End Alcobev Operations
- Oversee daily operations related to finished goods, warehousing, dispatch, transportation and distribution.
- Coordinate between Manufacturing, Warehouse, Excise, Sales, Transporters, Distributors, CSD and Retail channels.
- Ensure products are moved from the plant to the required destination safely, legally and on time.
- Establish strong operational discipline, reporting systems and accountability.
1. Excise & Statutory Compliance
The candidate must have strong practical knowledge of excise-related operations and documentation for alcoholic beverages.
- Understand the excise requirements, procedures, permits, passes and documentation applicable to alcohol movement.
- Coordinate with the company's Excise team/consultants and relevant authorities wherever required.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed before dispatch and transportation.
- Maintain proper records related to production, stock, dispatch, transportation and movement of alcoholic products.
- Ensure dispatches are made only after all required statutory/excise documentation and approvals are in place.
- Keep track of state-specific requirements affecting the movement and sale of alcoholic beverages.
- Ensure operational teams follow applicable excise rules, company SOPs and statutory requirements.
1. State-Wise Alcohol Labelling & Packaging Compliance
- Have practical understanding of state-wise alcohol labelling requirements across India.
- Ensure the correct labels, declarations, MRP, statutory markings and packaging requirements are used for the relevant state/market.
- Coordinate with Production, Packaging, Excise and Sales teams regarding state-specific product requirements.
- Maintain awareness of changes in state-wise excise/labelling requirements and communicate them to relevant teams.
- Ensure incorrect or non-compliant stock is not dispatched.
Knowledge of state-wise alcohol labels and regulatory requirements across India is strongly preferred.
1. Transportation & Route Management
- Plan and coordinate transportation of finished products from the manufacturing plant to warehouses, distributors, CSD locations and retail markets.
- Coordinate with transporters, drivers, distributors and logistics partners.
- Track vehicles from dispatch to final delivery.
- Monitor vehicle location, route, delivery status and delays.
- Maintain proper dispatch and delivery tracking systems.
- Understand major transportation routes and logistics movement across different states/markets.
- Plan efficient routes while considering distance, delivery schedules,
operational risks and applicable restrictions.
- Immediately escalate delays, vehicle breakdowns, route deviations, accidents or other issues.
1. Dispatch & Delivery Control
- Verify dispatch quantities, product details, documentation and vehicle details before loading.
- Ensure proper loading, sealing and handling of finished alcohol products.
- Track every shipment until successful delivery.
- Obtain and maintain proof of delivery and relevant delivery documentation.
- Investigate shortages, damages, breakages, pilferage or discrepancies reported during delivery.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse and Accounts teams to resolve delivery-related discrepancies.
1. Quality Check – Before & After Delivery
- Coordinate with the relevant Quality/Production team to ensure finished products are properly checked before dispatch.
- Verify product condition, packaging, bottles, labels, cartons and batch details before dispatch.
- Ensure damaged, incorrectly labelled or questionable stock is not dispatched.
- After delivery, monitor complaints relating to damage, leakage, breakage, incorrect quantity, packaging or product condition.
- Coordinate with Quality, Warehouse and Sales teams to investigate delivery-related quality issues.
- Maintain records of complaints, damages, shortages and corrective actions.
1. Warehouse & Inventory Control
- Monitor finished-goods inventory and stock movement.
- Ensure accurate records of opening stock, production receipts, dispatches, returns, damages and closing stock.
- Prevent pilferage, unauthorized movement, stock loss and inventory discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Warehouse teams for proper stacking, identification and stock rotation.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of alcohol products as per company procedures.
1. CSD & Retail Distribution
- Coordinate operations for distribution through CSD (Canteen Stores Department) and retail channels.
- Ensure correct products, quantities, labels and documentation are supplied to respective markets.
- Coordinate with distributors and logistics partners for timely deliveries.
- Monitor pending orders, dispatches, deliveries and market requirements.
- Ensure operational issues affecting CSD or retail supply are resolved quickly.
1. Vendor & Transporter Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with transporters and logistics vendors.
- Negotiate and monitor transportation arrangements in coordination with management.
- Monitor transporter performance, delivery timelines and operational discipline.
- Maintain transporter records, vehicle details and performance history.
- Take corrective action in cases of repeated delays, route deviations, poor handling or delivery issues.
1. Operational Discipline & Team Management
- Supervise warehouse, dispatch, logistics and support staff.
- Establish clear reporting structures and daily responsibilities.
- Ensure employees follow company SOPs and operational procedures.
- Conduct regular reviews of pending deliveries, stock, vehicles and operational issues.
- Maintain discipline, accountability and timely reporting.
- Train and guide staff on operational procedures and documentation.
1. Crisis Management & Risk Control
- Handle operational emergencies including vehicle breakdowns, delivery delays, route issues,
stock discrepancies, documentation problems and other logistics challenges.
- Develop contingency plans for critical shipments.
- Take quick and practical decisions during operational disruptions.
- Identify risks relating to transportation, inventory, pilferage and compliance.
- Escalate serious issues to management immediately.
MIS & Reporting The Operations Manager will maintain and review:
- Daily dispatch report
- Stock movement report
- Vehicle tracking report
- Pending delivery report
- Delivery status / POD report
- Transporter performance report
- Warehouse stock report
- Damage / shortage report
- State-wise dispatch report
- Excise documentation status

Candidate ProfilePreferred Background
- Retired Army / Navy personnel – JCO / Senior NCO / Officer preferred.
- Strong experience in operations, logistics, transportation, administration, supply chain or warehouse management.
- Experience in Alcobev / Alcohol Manufacturing / Distillery / FMCG / Beverage Distribution will be strongly preferred.
- Experience handling operations across multiple locations or states will be an advantage.

Important Candidate Requirement This is not a general office-based Operations Manager position.
We are specifically looking for a person who can take complete operational ownership of an Alcobev business, including:
Manufacturing → Finished Goods → Quality Check → Excise Documentation → Warehouse → Dispatch → Transportation → Vehicle Tracking → CSD / Retail Delivery → Delivery Verification → Stock Reconciliation The candidate should be comfortable working with plant teams, warehouse teams, transporters, distributors, CSD, retail partners, excise-related teams and senior management.
Strong knowledge of alcohol excise procedures, state-wise labelling requirements and transportation/documentation of alcoholic beverages is highly preferred.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site role.
- Mumbai-based role with coordination with manufacturing plants, warehouses, distributors and transporters.
- May require travel to plants, warehouses, markets or other operational locations.
- May require coordination outside standard working hours depending on dispatches, transportation and operational requirements.
