Purpose/Objective To plan, supervise, and execute blasting operations in compliance with DGMS regulations, mine plans, safety standards, and operational targets.

The role is responsible for ensuring safe storage, handling, transportation, and consumption of explosives while achieving the desired fragmentation and production objectives.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Key Responsibilities Blasting Operations - Plan and execute day-to-day blasting activities as per approved mine plans.

- Prepare blasting patterns, burden, spacing, stemming, and charging parameters.
- Ensure optimum blast design for better fragmentation and productivity.
- Supervise drilling and charging activities before blasting.
- Conduct pre-blast and post-blast inspections. Explosive Management - Ensure secure handling, storage, transportation, and usage of explosives.

- Coordinate with Magazine Incharge for explosive inventory management.
- Maintain records of explosive receipt, issue, consumption, and balance.
- Ensure compliance with the Explosives Rules and DGMS guidelines. Safety & Compliance - Implement all statutory requirements related to blasting operations.

- Ensure blasting zones are cleared before firing blasts.
- Conduct risk assessments and toolbox talks before blasting activities.
- Investigate and report misfires, fly rocks, vibration issues, and other blasting-related incidents.
- Ensure compliance with DGMS,



Mines Act, and Metalliferous Mines Regulations. Monitoring & Optimization - Monitor blast performance and fragmentation results.

- Analyze powder factor, drilling accuracy, and blast outcomes.
- Recommend improvements to reduce drilling and blasting costs.
- Coordinate with mine production and excavation teams for smooth operations. Team Management - Guide and supervise blasters, drill operators, and mining crews.

- Conduct training programs on blasting safety and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and safety procedures by all team members. Documentation & Reporting - Maintain daily blasting reports and statutory records.

- Prepare monthly explosive consumption reports.
- Keep records of blast designs, vibration monitoring, and compliance reports.
- Support audits and inspections conducted by DGMS and internal stakeholders.

Technical Competencies DGMS statutory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification: - Diploma / B.

Tech / B.

E.

in Mining Engineering.

- DGMS Blaster Certificate or relevant statutory competency certification preferred. Experience 5 to 12 years of experience in drilling and blasting operations in open-cast metal mines.
