Senior Communications & Media Relations Social Sector

We are looking for an experienced Communications / Media Relations professional with strong exposure to the NGO, CSR, development or social-impact sector.

This role will be responsible for strengthening media visibility, building relationships with journalists and development-sector media, and positioning the organisations work and leadership across relevant platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

- Build and manage strong relationships with mainstream and development-sector journalists.
- Drive media outreach around key social-impact and development themes.
- Develop press releases, media stories, thought pieces and communication opportunities.
- Identify and build media partnerships for sustained thematic coverage.
- Conceptualise and organise media workshops, media visits and thematic media events.
- Connect organisational leadership and subject-matter experts with relevant journalists for quotes, interviews, articles and thought leadership.
- Support communication campaigns and thought-leadership initiatives.




- Identify opportunities for leadership participation in external forums, conferences, awards and public platforms.
- Work closely with programme teams and internal communications teams to convert impactful programme work into strong external stories.
- Track media opportunities, coverage, awards and external forums to strengthen the organisation’s visibility and sector footprint.

Preferred candidate profile

- 3+ years of experience in journalism, media relations, PR or communications.
- Strong experience in the NGO / development / CSR / social-impact sector.
- Should have an in-depth understanding of at least two development/social-impact themes.
- Solid network across mainstream media and development-sector media.
- Experience in journalist engagement, press outreach, thought leadership and external communications.
- Candidates from NGOs, foundations, CSR organisations, social-impact organisations, development-sector media or development-focused PR/communications teams are preferred.
