Purpose/Objective To lead and manage all Mechanical Construction activities for large-scale power generation projects, ensuring safe, timely, and quality execution of Boiler, Turbine, Generator (BTG) and Balance of Plant (BoP) installation works.

The role will be responsible for driving construction progress, contractor management, resource optimization, compliance, and adherence to project milestones.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Project Construction Management - Lead end-to-end mechanical construction activities for Thermal Power Plant projects.

- Ensure installation and erection of BTG packages in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Drive construction planning, execution, monitoring, and progress tracking to achieve project timelines.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Safety, and Commissioning teams for seamless project execution.
- Monitor critical project milestones and implement recovery plans for schedule slippages. Mechanical Erection & Installation - Oversee erection and installation of:
- Boilers and Auxiliaries - Steam Turbines & Generators - Cooling Towers - Coal Handling Plant (CHP) - Ash Handling Plant (AHP) - DM Plant / Water Treatment Systems - Piping Networks - Pumps, Compressors, Tanks and Mechanical Equipment - Fire Water Systems - Balance of Plant (BoP) Equipment Contractor & Stakeholder Management - Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, and construction agencies.

- Review contractor performance against project schedules and productivity targets.




- Conduct regular progress review meetings with contractors and stakeholders.
- Resolve site execution challenges, interface issues, and resource bottlenecks. Construction Planning & Monitoring - Review construction schedules prepared in Primavera/MS Project.

- Track daily, weekly, and monthly progress.
- Develop mitigation plans for risks affecting schedule and cost.
- Ensure productive utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials. Safety, Quality & Compliance - Champion a strong safety culture and ensure zero-harm objectives.

- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, project specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and construction reviews.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and inspection protocols. Cost & Resource Management - Support project budget control and cost optimization initiatives.

- Monitor material consumption and wastage.
- Identify opportunities for productivity improvement and cost savings. Commissioning Support - Coordinate with commissioning teams for system readiness.

- Ensure punch point closure and mechanical completion certification.
- Facilitate smooth handover of systems for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

Technical Competencies

Qualifications and Experience

Essential - BE/B.

Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

Preferred - M.

Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

- MBA/PGDM in Project Management or Operations Management.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP/Prince2) will be an added advantage.
