JUNIOR RESEARCHER

Hyperworks Imaging is a cutting-edge technology company based out of Bengaluru, India since 2016. We are seeking an ambitious junior researcher who wants to do more than fine-tune off-the-shelf models. In this role, you will build, train and deploy new LLMs, SLMs, VLMs and AI agents from the ground up — designing architectures, running training experiments, and shipping models into production systems that power the AI assistants of the future.

You will own the full research-to-deployment loop: reading and implementing the latest papers, forming hypotheses, designing training runs and ablations, and turning what works into robust, deployed systems. This is a role for someone who wants their ideas to end up in real products, quick.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design, train and deploy novel LLMs, SLMs and VLMs — including pre-training, fine-tuning, distillation and quantization for efficient inference.
- Implement and extend the latest research papers; run experiments and ablations to push model performance beyond published baselines.
- Build AI agents using Model Context Protocols (MCPs), CLI tools, Claude Code, DSPy and emerging agentic frameworks.
- Develop rigorous custom evals and benchmarks to measure model and agent capability, and use them to drive research iterations.
- Build and maintain the training and data pipelines (extraction, transformation, curation) that feed model development.




- Deploy models and agents into cloud-based workflows; optimize for accuracy, latency and cost.
- Write clean, well-documented, reproducible code and communicate research findings clearly to stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS:

- 2-3+ years of experience in machine learning, deep learning research, or a similar role.
- Demonstrated expertise with Python and PyTorch; experience training or fine-tuning transformer-based models or world models strongly preferred.
- Evidence of research ability: publications, open-source model releases, reproduced papers, or strong personal projects involving model training.
- Hands-on experience with Model Context Protocols (MCPs), DSPy, AI agents and MLOps.
- B.Tech/M.Tech/PhD in Electrical Engg./Electronics Engg./Computer Science/Maths and Computing/Physics.
