ob Summary The Hospital IT Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and securing the hospital's information technology infrastructure and systems. This role ensures the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of healthcare information while supporting clinical, administrative, and operational services. The IT Manager oversees IT staff, manages technology projects, ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, and provides strategic direction for the hospital's digital transformation initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesIT Infrastructure Management
- Manage and maintain hospital networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud services.
- Ensure high availability of IT systems, including electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and financial systems.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements.
- Oversee hardware and software procurement, installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
Cybersecurity and Data Protection
- Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
- Protect hospital systems against cyber threats, malware, ransomware, and unauthorized access.
- Manage user access controls and identity management.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and system audits.
- Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans are regularly tested.
Clinical Information Systems
- Support and optimize EMR/EHR systems and related clinical applications.
- Collaborate with clinical departments to improve workflow efficiency through technology.
- Coordinate system upgrades, integrations, and vendor support.
IT Operations and Support
- Manage the IT helpdesk and technical support services.
- Ensure timely resolution of hardware,
software, and network issues.
- Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for IT support.
- Monitor IT assets and inventory.
Project Management
- Lead IT implementation projects from planning through deployment.
- Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and hospital departments.
- Develop project plans, budgets, timelines, and risk management strategies.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and information security standards.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Support accreditation and regulatory audits.
Leadership and Staff Management
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate IT personnel.
- Develop staff training plans and promote continuous career development.
- Prepare departmental budgets and manage IT expenditures.
- Recommend technology investments aligned with organizational goals.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master's degree is preferred.
Experience
- 5–8 years of progressive IT experience.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in healthcare or hospital IT environments is highly preferred.
