Role Overview
Kubernetes Developer Engineer designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Kubernetes solutions and container orchestration platforms. Architect operators, controllers, microservices, and cloud-native applications managing containerized workloads at scale across hybrid/multi-cloud environments
2. Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Operators & Controllers: Develop Kubernetes operators using Kubebuilder/Operator SDK, implement CRDs, build lifecycle management systems, create helm charts and ClusterResourceSets.
- Cloud-Native Apps: Architect microservices with Kubernetes primitives, implement resilience patterns, multi-container Pods
- Cluster Infrastructure: Design production clusters, networking solutions, RBAC, security policies, autoscaling, cost optimization
- Container Security: Image scanning, runtime security, admission control, secrets management, supply chain security
- Service Mesh & Observability: Istio/Linkerd , Advanced traffic management implementation, distributed tracing, Prometheus monitoring, anomaly detection
- DevOps & GitOps: CI/CD integration, ArgoCD/Flux deployment, infrastructure-as-code, Ansible, Terraform, automated testing, progressive delivery
- Build and automate CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications, integrating testing, security, and deployment workflows
- Storage & Data: Persistent storage solutions, database operators, backup/recovery, data replication, multi-cluster sync
- Leadership:
Code reviews, mentoring, incident response, documentation, open-source contributions
- Use Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform/Ansible / CAPI) to manage and automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
3. Required Qualification
- Experience: 4+ years software development | 3+ years Kubernetes production | 2+ years operators/cloud-native development
- Language: Advanced Go (Golang) proficiency - primary Kubernetes ecosystem language
- Kubernetes: Expert knowledge of API, architecture, Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Jobs, CRDs, operators, controllers, webhooks, RBAC, networking, storage, security, gateways, Octavia loadbalancer,
- Containers: Docker, containerd, CRI-O, image scanning, registry management, container security
- Networking: CNI plugins (Calico, Cilium), network policies, service mesh (Istio, Linkerd), ingress controllers
- Cloud Platforms: AWS EKS, Azure AKS, GCP GKE, managed services, cloud IAM integration • DevOps: Terraform, Helm, GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux), CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), infrastructure-as code
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, distributed tracing (Jaeger), custom metrics, monitoring
- Microservices: Architecture patterns, distributed systems, resilience patterns, gRPC, API design
- Testing: Unit, integration, end-to-end testing, chaos engineering, performance testing
