Job Summary

The Senior Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing workplace health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, and promoting a culture of safety across the organization. The role involves risk assessment, incident investigation, and implementation of safety policies to prevent accidents and injuries.

Key Responsibilities1. Safety Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations (e.g., OSHA or applicable laws).
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) records.

3. Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
- Prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis.
- Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

4. Training & Awareness




- Conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and drills.
- Promote safety awareness among employees and contractors.
- Ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

5. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Coordinate mock drills (fire, evacuation, etc.).
- Ensure availability and maintenance of emergency equipment.

6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare monthly/weekly safety reports for management.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities when required.

7. Team Leadership
- Supervise safety officers and site safety staff.
- Guide and mentor junior safety team members.
- Coordinate with project managers, HR, and operations teams.

Qualifications & SkillsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Science / Safety Management
- Diploma or Certification in Industrial Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH)
