About The Role
We are seeking a Senior HIL Engineer specializing in high-fidelity real-time simulation for our next-generation EV systems. Unlike traditional HIL roles, this position focuses on the high-speed dynamics of 400V Traction Inverters, OBCs, and DC-DC converters. You will be the technical point for integrating complex MATLAB/Simulink plant models into the Opal-RT environment, ensuring high-fidelity execution at the nanosecond scale.
Responsibilities
- System Integration: Integrate individual high-fidelity MATLAB/Simulink models (Inverter, Motor, OBC, DC-DC) into a unified X-in-1 plant model.
- Real-Time Optimization: Deploy and optimize models on Opal-RT (RT-LAB) using the eHS (Electrical Hardware Solver) to support high switching frequencies for high switching converters.
- Advanced Modeling: Implement dynamic thermal models for SiC MOSFETs/IGBTs based on real-time loss equations (conduction and switching losses).
- FPGA Management: Execute CPU vs. FPGA partitioning to ensure sub-microsecond solver steps without overruns.
- Hardware Interfacing: Define and manage I/O mapping between the control PCB and Opal-RT cards (Analog, Digital, and high-speed PWM acquisition).
- Test Automation: Develop comprehensive HIL automation frameworks using Python and Vector CANoe (CAPL).
- Safety Validation: Design and execute HIL test cases for ASIL-D safety mechanisms, simulating faults like Over-Voltage, Over-Current, and Gate Driver failures.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze complex log files and HIL traces to identify root causes of defects. Generate detailed test reports and dashboards.
- Executive Summaries: Translate technical test data into Executive Summary reports, highlighting software maturity, risk areas, and project KPIs for management review.
Eligibility
- Tool Expertise: Expert of Opal-RT (RT-LAB, eHS) is mandatory. Professional experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.
- Power Electronics Depth: Good understanding of semiconductor physics and power electronics topologies.
- HIL Automation: Proficiency in Python for HIL API control and Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer) for bus simulation and UDS diagnostics.
- Hardware Savvy: Ability to read schematics and understand signal conditioning for PWM, BNC instrumentation, and interfacing with high-voltage programmable DC sources/loads.
- Safety Standards: Hands-on experience implementing ISO 26262 functional safety test cases in a HIL setting.
Desirable
- M.Tech in Power Electronics or Electric Drives.
- Experience with high-fidelity motor model integration.
- Experience in the startup ecosystem or developing X-in-1 powertrain architectures.
