Job Title: Garments Quality Controller

Department: Quality Control / Quality Assurance

Reports To: Quality Manager / Production Manager

Location: Garment Manufacturing Unit

Job Summary The Garments Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that garments produced meet the required quality standards, customer specifications, approved samples, measurement tolerances, and workmanship requirements.

The Quality Controller will inspect garments at different stages of production, identify defects, coordinate corrections with the production team, maintain quality records, and ensure that only approved garments move to the next stage or final packing.

Key Responsibilities1. Fabric & Material Inspection

- Inspect incoming fabric for visible defects, shade variation, holes, stains, contamination, and other quality issues.
- Check fabric width, GSM, construction, and other specifications as required.
- Inspect trims and accessories for quality and specification compliance.
- Report material-related quality issues to the concerned department.

1. Cutting Quality Control

- Check cut panels for correct measurements and specifications.
- Ensure panels are cut according to approved patterns and markers.
- Check for shade variation and ensure proper panel segregation.
- Verify correct size, colour, and quantity before sending panels to sewing.

1. In-Line Inspection

- Conduct regular inspections during the sewing process.
- Check garment construction, stitching, seams, SPI, thread tension, and workmanship.
- Identify defects at an early stage and ensure immediate correction.
- Monitor critical operations to prevent repeated defects.
- Communicate quality issues clearly to operators, supervisors, and production teams.

1. End-Line Inspection

- Inspect garments coming out of the sewing line.
- Check measurements against the approved size specification.
- Check stitching, appearance, construction, and workmanship.
- Ensure defective garments are segregated and sent for rework.
- Monitor rework and verify corrected garments before approval.

1. Finishing Quality Control

- Check garments after washing/finishing, where applicable.
- Inspect for stains, loose threads, wrinkles, pressing issues, holes, needle damage, and other finishing defects.
- Verify labels, tags, buttons, zippers, prints, embroidery, and other components.
- Ensure garments meet the approved appearance standard.

1. Final Inspection





- Conduct final garment inspections according to company/customer requirements and applicable AQL standards.
- Check:
- Measurements
- Workmanship
- Appearance
- Colour/shade
- Labels and tags
- Print/embroidery
- Accessories
- Packing
- Size and quantity
- Approve or reject finished goods based on inspection results.
- Ensure rejected garments are corrected before shipment.

1. Measurement Control

- Check critical garment measurements at required stages.
- Ensure measurements are within approved tolerances.
- Maintain measurement records for each style and size.
- Immediately report repeated measurement deviations to the production and technical teams.

1. Defect Identification & Corrective Action

- Identify and classify garment defects according to their severity.
- Monitor major and recurring defects.
- Discuss root causes with production supervisors.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure repeated defects are controlled and eliminated.

1. Quality Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain daily inspection reports.
- Record defects, rejection, rework, and inspection results.
- Prepare quality reports for the Quality Manager/Production Manager.
- Maintain records of inline, end-line, finishing, and final inspections.
- Track quality performance by line, style, and operator where required.

1. Coordination With Other Departments

- Coordinate closely with:
- Production

- Communicate quality problems immediately to the concerned department.
- Support production teams in achieving quality and delivery targets.

Manpower & Training
- Guide and train sewing operators and helpers on quality requirements.




- Explain defects and correct working methods to operators.
- Support supervisors in reducing repeated defects.
- Promote quality awareness among production workers.

Quality & Production Targets
- Ensure production achieves the required quality level without compromising delivery schedules.
- Reduce rejection and rework.
- Improve first-pass quality.
- Identify defects as early as possible in the production process.
- Ensure customer requirements are consistently followed.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Garment Technology, Apparel Technology, Textile Technology, Fashion Technology, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in garment quality control.
- Experience in knitted/woven garment manufacturing is preferred.
- Knowledge of garment construction, sewing, finishing, measurements, and quality standards.

Authority & Responsibility The Quality Controller has the responsibility to hold, reject, or stop defective garments from moving to the next stage when they do not meet the required quality standards. The Quality Controller must immediately communicate serious or repeated quality issues to the Quality Manager and Production Manager and ensure corrective action is taken.

Working Conditions

- Full-time position in a garment manufacturing unit.
- Requires regular presence on the production floor.
- Frequent interaction with operators, supervisors, production, and technical teams.
- May require extended working hours during urgent production and shipment schedules.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
