Full Stack Developer (Intermediate - Senior)
Kolkata, West Bengal, India | In office, 5 days per week | 5 to 8 years | Full-time, permanent
Our client is a global technology consulting and engineering firm with delivery hubs in Canada and India, working as one globally local team. They partner with organizations across finance, insurance, utilities, technology, and the not-for-profit sector on cloud modernization, custom application development, data engineering, applied AI, and managed services.
They are a Certified Great Place to Work. Every engagement is led end to end by senior architects and technical leads, and the India engineering team works directly with the Canadian team rather than at arm's length.
About the Role
We are looking for a Full Stack Developer (Intermediate - Senior) to design and build cloud-native applications and integrations that sit at the centre of client digital ecosystems. You will join a team of five in Kolkata and work across the stack: React or Angular on the front end, NodeJS and PHP services on the back end, relational and NoSQL data stores underneath, and integrations into HubSpot, WordPress, and other business platforms through well-designed APIs.
This is a hands-on engineering role with real technical ownership. You will translate business requirements into resilient architecture, write production-grade code, deploy through automated pipelines on Azure, and mentor less experienced engineers along the way. On a team this size your work is visible, so you will work with a high degree of independence in a fast-paced agile setting and be expected to raise the bar on quality and maintainability across the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications using React, Node, Next.js, NestJS, PHP, Functions, HubSpot, and WordPress on the backend
- Build and consume secure, well-documented RESTful APIs, and lead integrations between custom applications and third-party platforms
- Develop and extend HubSpot solutions including custom objects, workflows, private apps, webhooks, CMS themes, and HubSpot API integrations, so that CRM and marketing data align with client business processes
- Model, query, and optimize data across relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL stores (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB), including schema design, indexing,
and migrations
- Architect and deploy cloud-native solutions on Azure using services such as Azure Functions, AKS, API Management, Blob Storage, and managed database offerings
- Own CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, containerize services with Docker, and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform or Bicep
- Work with product managers, designers, architects, and QA engineers to turn requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria into technical designs and delivery estimates
- Write unit and integration tests, take part in code reviews, and uphold engineering standards for security, performance, and maintainability
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and contribute to monitoring, logging, and observability practices that reduce mean time to resolution
- Take part in all agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on professional full stack development experience, including ownership of features from design through production release
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Ubuntu environments. This is a working requirement of the role, and a Windows-only background will not be a fit
- Strong backend engineering experience with NodeJS frameworks and PHP frameworks, covering modular architecture, dependency injection, authentication and authorization, and API design
- Production experience building modern front ends with React (Next.js an asset) and working knowledge of Angular, or the reverse, with proven ability to work confidently in both
- Hands-on HubSpot development and integration experience: HubSpot APIs, private apps, custom objects, workflows, or CMS, with an understanding of how CRM data flows through connected systems
- Solid database skills across at least one relational and one NoSQL platform, including query optimization and data modelling for transactional applications
- Practical experience designing, deploying, and operating workloads on Azure
- Working DevOps capability: Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipeline configuration, Docker, and environment and release management
- Proven delivery in an agile environment alongside cross-functional teams
- A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, able to drive work forward with minimal supervision
- Robust analytical skills and a quick learner, comfortable picking up unfamiliar platforms and codebases
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Background in startups or product-based companies
- Infrastructure as code at scale using Terraform or Bicep
- Test automation with Jest, Playwright, or Cypress
- Exposure to data engineering pipelines, ETL, or analytics and BI tooling
- Experience applying AI or LLM-based capabilities in production applications
- Azure certifications such as Azure Developer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or HubSpot developer certifications
- Familiarity with secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10)
- Consulting or professional services experience, working directly with clients across concurrent engagements
- Understanding of enterprise SDLC and delivery governance
What We Offer
- Senior-level technical mentorship on every engagement, with clear paths toward lead and architect roles.
- Varied, high-impact work across industries, including modernization programs, greenfield builds, and applied AI initiatives.
- Direct collaboration with our Canada-based team, not siloed offshore delivery.
- A collaborative, globally local team culture, recognized through our Great Place to Work certification.
- Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and support for professional development and certification.
Location
- This is an on-site position. Qualified candidates must be willing to work from our Kolkata, West Bengal office 5 days a week.
- The role involves regular collaboration with our Canada-based teams and clients, which requires some overlap with North American business hours.
- Candidates must be legally eligible to work in India.
