About the Role Must-Have4+ years of experience managing Linux-based edge device fleets. Hands-on experience with fleet management tools like Balena Cloud, balena CLI, metropolis and container-based deployments. Strong experience with Docker containers and Docker Compose. CI/CD pipeline implementation using tools such as Git Lab CI/CD, Git Hub Actions, or Jenkins. Container image build, optimization, and deployment practices. Version control using Git.

Strong

Linux administration skills (Ubuntu, Debian, Raspberry Pi OS). Device troubleshooting, remote diagnostics, and log analysis. Shell scripting (Bash). Network configuration and security for remote edge devices.

Python for automation, deployment tools, and monitoring. API integration and automation scripting. Good-to-Have Experience integrating edge devices with cloud platforms such as: Azure Io T, AWS Io T, Google Cloud Io T.

Understanding of VPNs, firewalls, proxies, and secure communications.



Familiarity with MQTT, REST APIs, Web Sockets. Air-gapped/offline deployment strategies. Kubernetes/K3s at the edge. Device security, certificate management, and secure boot.

Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).

Experience with ARM-based devices (Raspberry Pi, Jetson, etc..).

Responsibilities Provision, configure, and onboard edge devices into Balena Cloud fleets. Manage device lifecycle activities including registration, updates, maintenance, and decommissioning. Deploy and monitor containerized applications across distributed edge device fleets. Configure fleet-wide setting variables, device settings, and application releases. Plan and execute OTA (Over-the-Air) software and firmware updates with minimal operational disruption.
