Position: Fabrication Supervisor

Department: Production / Fabrication

Location: Satara, Maharashtra

Experience: 3 to 5 Years

Qualification: Diploma / B.E. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and result-oriented Fabrication Supervisor to oversee fabrication activities, ensure production targets are achieved, maintain quality standards, and manage workforce productivity. The role requires strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes, welding practices, production planning, manpower management, safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Execution

- Participate in preparing fortnightly production plans along with the production team and ensure timely achievement of committed delivery schedules.
- Conduct daily reviews of material readiness (Phase-1) as per BOM before weekly production planning.
- Coordinate with the Stores and Planning team regarding material availability and highlight shortages in daily morning meetings.
- Carry out one-day advance production planning with the HOD and ensure effective execution on the following day.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, fixtures, and resources.

Fabrication & Welding Operations
- Identify and arrange required fixtures, tooling, measuring instruments, welding consumables, and welding equipment.
- Ensure proper joint preparation, weld mapping, drawing interpretation, and welding practices.
- Verify proper support and clamping arrangements before welding to minimize distortion.
- Ensure new welders are qualified as per WPS/PQR requirements and approved by QA before deployment.

Quality Assurance
- Ensure all fabrication activities follow approved SOPs, drawings, and quality standards.




- Monitor workmanship quality and ensure proper finishing of fabricated components.
- Ensure QA clearance before components are moved to subsequent processes.
- Focus on reducing rejection and rework through process control and preventive actions.

Shop Floor Management
- Identify and discuss shop floor issues with the HOD and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor daily production activities and ensure adherence to process timelines.
- Prepare and submit weekly G1 Shop Efficiency Reports to the HOD.
- Maintain discipline on the shop floor and discourage unnecessary discussions and mobile usage during working hours.

Safety & 5S Management
- Ensure strict compliance with safety rules and regulations.
- Promote and sustain 5S activities across the fabrication shop.
- Ensure safe material handling practices, including proper use of lifting belts, cranes, and material movement equipment.
- Verify crane operations are carried out within rated tonnage capacities.

People Management
- Lead, guide, and motivate the fabrication team to achieve production and quality objectives.
- Identify training needs and coordinate with the HOD for skill development programs.
- Recognize and appreciate employees for good performance and positive contributions.
- Collect employee feedback and address concerns proactively.
- Monitor attendance and control absenteeism through effective workforce engagement.

Continuous Improvement




- Drive continual improvement initiatives in fabrication processes, productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
- Suggest process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.

Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding processes, drawings, and manufacturing practices.
- Good understanding of WPS, PQR, weld maps, and quality requirements.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Production planning and manpower management skills.
- Knowledge of shop floor safety, 5S, and material handling practices.
- Leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in preparing production and efficiency reports.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) The Fabrication Supervisor will be accountable for:
1. Production Plan vs. Actual Achievement

- Timely completion of production targets as per schedule.

1. Reduction in Rework & Rejection

- Continuous improvement in quality and reduction of manufacturing losses.

1. Process Time Adherence

- Monitoring and controlling actual process times against planned process timesheets.

1. Manpower Utilization

- Achieving optimal workforce productivity and efficiency.

1. Safety & 5S Compliance

- Maintaining a safe, organized, and disciplined work workplace.
