About the ERP Cross-Functional Engineering Department (ERP-X)
Over the past decade, Money Forward has built multiple products across different teams and technology stacks. To scale better and deliver more customer value, the ERP Cross-Functional Engineering Department was established in 2023 to unify engineering foundations and improve collaboration across ERP Division teams.
To strengthen further the ERP Division, we are expanding ERP-X capabilities at Money Forward India (Pune) to work closely with ERP product teams and ERP-X teams in Japan and Vietnam, contributing to the divisions success through shared platforms and AI-enabled engineering.
Role Summary
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to help build and lead a current ERP-X team in Pune. The team will collaborate with cross-location ERP-X teams to deliver AI solutions and engineering foundations that accelerate ERP product development.

Key Responsibilities
- Build, hire, and grow a new engineering team in Chennai; define team structure, roles, and operating rhythm.
- Lead execution and delivery of cross-functional initiatives in collaboration with ERP-X teams in Japan and Vietnam.
- Provide hands-on technical direction and coaching to ensure high engineering quality and sound architectural decisions.
- Actively participate in hands-on software development alongside engineers, contributing to design, implementation, code reviews, and technical problem-solving when needed.
- Partner with product management, engineering leaders, security, and platform teams to align priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Establish strong engineering practices (Agile delivery, SDLC, code quality, reliability,
incident practices, documentation).
- Drive continuous improvement using data and metrics (delivery predictability, quality, throughput, utilization, operational health).
- Build an inclusive, high-trust culture with strong performance management, mentoring, and career development.
Preferred candidate profile Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4–6+ years in engineering management or delivery leadership roles.
- Proven experience building and managing engineering teams and/or leading large-scale delivery programs.
- Experience managing organizations of ~10+ engineers, including multiple teams and/or tech leads.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and distributed teams.
- Experience working with AI tools and platforms, with the ability to guide teams in technical decision-making and adoption.
- Experience building enterprise SaaS applications, platforms, or web applications.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, and engineering operations.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices, including hands-on experience with AWS.
- Strong people leadership skills: hiring, mentoring, performance management, and organizational design.
- Experience working with distributed/offshore/nearshore teams.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Understanding of AI agent patterns (tool use, function calling, memory, multi-turn interaction, guardrails).
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms and/or developer platforms.
- Familiarity with observability practices and tools (e.g., Datadog, logging, tracing).
- Experience designing and improving CI/CD pipelines and automated infrastructure workflows.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration experience across product, platform, and security teams.
Language Requirements
- English: Fluent (meetings, written communication).
- Japanese: Not required; nice to have.
