POSITION OVERVIEW The Head of Centralised Packing (DGM Level) will be strategically and operationally responsible for directing high-volume, centralized packaging operations for the Oral Dosage Manufacturing Facility at Dholka. Reporting directly to the General Manager – Production, this role demands an experienced leader capable of managing multi-line blister, bottle, and secondary packaging operations across regulated and global markets. The incumbent will focus on maximizing throughput, driving operational excellence through Lean and automation, ensuring total compliance with global regulatory standards (USFDA, MHRA, ANVISA, WHO), and optimizing conversion costs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Leadership &

- Throughput Execution Lead end-to-end centralized packaging operations for Oral Dosage forms (Tablets, Capsules, and specialized packaging). Strategize, execute, and monitor weekly and monthly production schedules in alignment with corporate Supply Chain Management (SCM), Site PPIC, and overall production goals directed by the GM – Production. Direct large-scale workforce deployment and line management across high-capacity packaging lines to meet monthly output targets (~400M–600M units/month scale). Drive man-machine optimization, reduce line setup/changeover times, and minimize equipment downtime.

Regulatory

Compliance, cGMP &
- Quality Governance Enforce cGMP, GDP, data integrity, and strict SOP/BPR compliance across all shop-floor packaging activities. Serve as the Primary Compliance Lead/Audit Coordinator during global regulatory inspections, including USFDA, MHRA, ANVISA, and WHO. Oversee investigation and resolution of deviations, OOS, OOT, and market complaints; drive robust Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and CAPA closure. Manage exhibit batch executions, process/packaging validations, and primary/secondary packaging material qualifications for current product introductions (NPI)



and site transfers.

Operational

Excellence, Automation &
- Cost Governance Drive Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 5S/Kaizen initiatives to reduce cycle times, eliminate waste, and optimize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Identify, evaluate, and implement shop-floor automation, serialization/track-and-trace systems, and digital packaging technologies. Formulate and govern departmental operational budgets, controlling material loss, consumables, and spares to reduce packaging conversion costs. Standardize product packs and secondary packaging designs to reduce inventory complexity and streamline line changeovers. Cross-Functional Collaboration, EHS &
- People Leadership Partner closely with Engineering to ensure high asset reliability, preventive maintenance, and utility efficiency across packaging equipment.

Embed

Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) culture and shop-floor safety frameworks to eliminate hazards and achieve zero lost-time incidents. Direct, coach, and build capability across multi-layered packaging teams, fostering succession planning, GMP discipline, and operational accountability.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS &

EXPERIENCE Educational Background: Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) from a recognized institute.

Experience: 20–25+ years of progressive operational experience in pharmaceutical packaging/manufacturing, with proven leadership at the Senior Manager / DGM level.

Domain Expertise: High-volume Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) packaging operations (Blister, Strip, Bottle, Secondary/Tertiary packaging).

Regulatory Exposure: In-depth hands-on experience handling successful inspections from USFDA, MHRA, ANVISA, WHO Geneva, and other global health authorities. Technical &

- Soft Skills: Deep knowledge of SAP/ERP systems, serialization software, Lean/Kaizen tools, capacity modeling, labor management, and strategic cross-functional coordination.
