We are seeking a highly skilled, resourceful, and compassionate Consultant in Internal Medicine. As the primary coordinator of adult medical care at our Sholtu facility, the ideal candidate will handle a diverse spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions. Operating in a beautiful but geographically remote high-altitude region, this role demands clinical independence, sharp diagnostic skills, and a commitment to serving industrial and local community populations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Clinical Excellence & Patient Management
- Outpatient & Inpatient Care: Run daily Medical OPDs and manage the care of admitted patients in the IPD, ensuring evidence-based treatment protocols.
- Chronic Disease Management: Diagnose and provide long-term care plans for lifestyle and chronic diseases, including Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Cardiovascular diseases, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
- High-Altitude & Environmental Medicine: Address localized medical emergencies such as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Altitude Pulmonary Oedema (HAPO), and hypothermia, which are common to the region.
2. Emergency & Critical Care Support
- ER Stabilization: Lead the medical team during medical emergencies, poisonings, acute cardiac events, and strokes in the Emergency Room.
- Referral Coordination: Evaluate and stabilize critically ill patients, making timely decisions for secure transit to tertiary care centres when specialized intervention is required.
3. Administrative & Quality Compliance
- Medical Documentation: Ensure accurate, detailed, and legally compliant Electronic Health Records (EHR)
or physical case sheets.
- Inter-Departmental Consults: Provide expert internal medicine clearances and consultations for patients undergoing surgical or gynaecological procedures.
- Health Programs: Participate in occupational health audits and corporate wellness initiatives designed for the industrial workforce in the region.
Core Competencies & Soft Skills
- Clinical Independence: Ability to make decisive medical judgments with minimal immediate peer supervision.
- Adaptability: Emotional resilience and resourcefulness required to practice medicine in a remote, mountainous environment.
- Empathy & Communication: Exceptional bedside manner to communicate effectively with local rural populations as well as corporate executives.
Qualifications & Recruitment Criteria (QR)
- Education: MD / DNB in Internal Medicine or General Medicine from an MCI/NMC recognized medical college.
- Experience: Min 05 years of post-MD clinical experience, preferably with exposure to managing busy setups or industrial townships.
- Age Profile: Strict upper age limit of 45 years at the time of recruitment.
- Geographic Readiness: Explicit comfort and physical fitness to live and work at a high-altitude location in Sholtu, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh.

2. Turnaround Time: Quick response times during emergency/on-call triggers.
