Position: Colorist – Dyeing Laboratory
Department: Dyeing Laboratory / Quality
Industry: Textile / Dyeing & Processing
Reports To: Laboratory Manager / Dyeing Manager
Job Purpose To develop, match, and approve fabric shades as per customer requirements, lab standards, and production specifications while ensuring shade accuracy, reproducibility, and timely submission of lab dips.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and match shades as per customer standards, approved swatches, and shade references.
- Prepare and evaluate Lab Dips using appropriate dyes, chemicals, and dyeing recipes.
- Conduct shade matching using visual assessment and spectrophotometer/color-matching systems.
- Prepare accurate dyeing recipes and maintain records of all approved shades.
- Coordinate with the Dyeing, Production, Quality, and Merchandising teams for shade-related requirements.
- Ensure bulk production shades are consistent with approved lab standards.
- Analyze shade variations and recommend necessary corrections in dyeing recipes/process parameters.
- Maintain proper records of lab dips, recipes, approvals, rejections, and shade corrections.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of dyes, chemicals, swatches, and laboratory materials.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain cleanliness and discipline in the dyeing laboratory.
- Support the team in troubleshooting shade and color-related problems during bulk production.
- Ensure timely completion of lab dips and shade submissions as per production/customer deadlines.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of textile dyes, chemicals, and dyeing processes.
- Strong understanding of color matching and shade development.
- Knowledge of spectrophotometer and computerized color-matching systems.
- Valuable visual color perception and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of different fabric compositions and their dyeing behavior.
- Ability to identify and rectify shade variations.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to work under production and customer deadlines.
Qualification & Experience Qualification: Diploma / B Tech / Degree in Textile Chemistry, Textile Technology, or a relevant field.
Experience: 3–7 years of relevant experience in a textile dyeing laboratory, preferably in fabric dyeing and processing.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
