Nutcase India
Delhi
Role summary The COO will build Nutcase's Delhi operation from the ground up. Working directly with the CEO, you will secure the facility, hire and train the team, replicate the systems and processes established at Head Office, and activate same-day and next-day delivery across Delhi NCR within 3 months of joining. Once live, you own the Delhi P&L; and sit on the core management team.
Setup mandate (first 100 days)
Facility and infrastructure
- Identify and secure the right space, evaluating sites on proximity to courier hubs and pickup cut-off times, power availability and load, and room to expand capacity
- Negotiate the lease and complete all statutory registrations: trade licence, fire NOC, Shops & Establishments, GST additional place of business, labour and PF/ESIC registrations
- Design the floor layout to mirror the HO production flow, from design desk through engraving, printing, fusing and sublimation, to packing, QC and dispatch
- Commission electrical, backup power, connectivity and the security and CCTV setup
Equipment and capex
- Build the capex plan with the CEO, source and negotiate with vendors, and oversee installation and commissioning of all production equipment
- Calibrate output against HO benchmarks so that a product made in Delhi is indistinguishable from one made in Mumbai
Team
- Hire the full Delhi team across design, production, packing and QC, order processing, and supervision
- Run structured training, including deputation of key hires to HO, so that process knowledge transfers rather than being reinvented
- Set up attendance, payroll and performance tracking on the company's existing systems
- Establish the shift structure, reporting lines and daily review rhythm
Systems and process replication
- Implement HO SOPs end to end, with no local workarounds that break company-wide consistency
- Onboard the team onto the internal tech stack covering Shopify, inventory, order processing and customer communication
- Establish QC standards and a defect-tracking mechanism identical to HO
- Set up inventory planning for Delhi, including opening stock, reorder levels, North India vendor onboarding and inter-unit stock transfers
Same-day and next-day delivery activation
- Negotiate courier and hyperlocal partnerships for NCR and agree rate cards and pickup schedules
- Define order cut-off times and the routing logic that determines which orders are fulfilled from Delhi versus Mumbai
- Work with the CEO and tech team to configure automated courier allocation for the Delhi pincode set
- Establish the reverse logistics, NDR and escalation process
- Take same-day and next-day delivery live within 3 months and hold the promised SLA from day one
Ongoing responsibilities
- Own the Delhi P&L;, including cost per order, manpower productivity, capacity utilisation and unit economics
- Hold delivery of the operating metrics: on-time dispatch, delivery TAT, defect and rework rate, RTO and return rate, and order-to-dispatch cycle time
- Scale capacity ahead of demand, particularly through festive and peak gifting seasons
- Contribute to company-wide operating strategy as part of the core management team, and partner with the CEO on process standardisation, automation and long-term corporate readiness
Contemplating entrepreneurship, but want the comfort of a salary? You're not starting from zero. Most people who leave a corporate career to build something spend their first three years finding out whether the idea works at all. Here it already does.
Nutcase is a quick-growing personalized and designer gift store,
growing in double digits, and growing profitably. There's an established customer base, in-house production, a repeat-purchase engine and return rates under 2%. You're not testing a hypothesis.
You're taking something that already works in one city and building it in another.
You own a piece of the whole business, not just your city. Your investment is in the company, not in Delhi operations alone. Delhi is your mandate, but your upside is tied to everything the business does, in every market.
The risk profile of a job, the upside of an owner. This is the part that's genuinely hard to find. Going out on your own usually means no income, no certainty, and a few years of quiet financial strain at home. Here you draw a fixed monthly salary. Your family's life doesn't change while you build. You take the entrepreneurial risk on the equity, where it belongs, not on your ability to keep the household running. Very few people get to attempt ownership without that trade-off.
Experience that changes what you're capable of. You'll carry a P&L.; Find and commission a facility. Hire and build a team from nothing. Negotiate with vendors and courier partners, manage working capital, and answer for the numbers every month.
Whatever you've done so far, this is a different kind of learning: compressed, unforgiving and entirely hands-on. No case studies, no simulations, no one to escalate to. Nobody grades you on it. The market does.
And when Delhi is live and delivering same-day, you'll know exactly what you built, and what you're capable of building next.
What we're really offering. A hybrid: part operator, part owner. You bring capital, conviction and experience. We bring a business that already works, a brand, a team, systems and a market. You get the ownership you've been thinking about, without the wipeout risk, and an income that means you can actually take the swing.
