CHEMICAL PURCHASE STAFF AT BANTALA TANNERY

Location: Bantala, Kolkata

Department: Purchase / Procurement

Salary: ₹14,000 – ₹15,000 per month

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a responsible, organised and proactive Chemical Purchase Staff to manage the day-to-day procurement of chemicals required for our tannery operations.

The ideal candidate should have good purchase coordination, negotiation, supplier follow-up and inventory control skills, with a strong focus on ensuring the right quality, price, quantity and timely availability of chemicals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Purchase chemicals as per approved requirements and specifications.
- Obtain quotations from suppliers and negotiate competitive prices and terms.
- Purchase only from approved suppliers as per company policy.
- Coordinate closely with Production and Stores to understand requirements and stock position.
- Ensure timely availability of chemicals and prevent production stoppage due to shortages.
- Monitor chemical stock levels, ageing, excess and slow-moving inventory.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding purchase orders, deliveries and pending supplies.
- Maintain accurate purchase records, quotations, comparative statements and approvals.
- Immediately report any quality, price, quantity or supply-related issues to the concerned authority.
- Prevent unnecessary purchases, excess inventory, wastage and misuse of chemicals.




- Support the company in achieving cost savings without compromising quality or production requirements.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

- Good understanding of purchase and procurement processes.
- Experience in chemical purchase / tannery / leather / manufacturing procurement will be preferred.
- Good negotiation and supplier-management skills.
- Strong follow-up and coordination ability.
- Basic knowledge of inventory and stock control.
- Basic proficiency in MS Excel and computer applications.
- Good communication skills with a disciplined and systematic approach.
- Honest, responsible and detail-oriented, with a solid sense of ownership.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum: Higher Secondary / Graduate preferred.
- Relevant experience in chemical procurement or industrial purchasing will be an advantage.
- Candidates with experience in tannery or leather industry procurement will be given preference.
