About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Automobile Technician / Diagnostic Expert to join our car service and repair workshop.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of automobile systems, vehicle fault diagnosis, mechanical repairs, electrical/electronic systems, computerised diagnostics, and wheel alignment.

We are looking for someone who can independently identify vehicle problems, determine the root cause of faults, recommend the correct solution, and complete repairs professionally.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle problems.
- Understand the working and operation of major automobile systems, including:
- Engine and fuel systems
- Transmission/gearbox
- Clutch system
- Braking system
- Suspension and steering
- Cooling system
- AC/HVAC system
- Battery and charging system
- Starting system
- Sensors and actuators
- Vehicle electrical and electronic systems
- Perform fault diagnosis and root-cause analysis rather than simply replacing parts.
- Use OBD/automotive diagnostic scanners and manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment to identify fault/error codes and electronic problems.
- Analyse diagnostic scanner data and determine the appropriate repair procedure.
- Carry out servicing, preventive maintenance and major/minor repairs.




- Perform and troubleshoot wheel alignment and steering/suspension-related issues using computerized wheel alignment equipment.
- Inspect tyres, wheels, steering and suspension components and identify abnormal wear or alignment problems.
- Carry out testing before and after repairs to ensure the vehicle is operating correctly.
- Explain identified problems and recommended repairs clearly to the workshop/service team.
- Maintain proper safety, cleanliness and skilled standards while working on vehicles.
- Identify when specialist equipment or additional technical support is required.
- Keep up with modern automotive technologies, including BS6 vehicles, electronic control systems, sensors, CAN-bus systems and advanced vehicle diagnostics.

Required SkillsTechnical Skills
- Strong knowledge of automobile mechanics and vehicle systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Practical experience with automotive diagnostic scanners.
- Ability to understand and interpret OBD fault codes and live data.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience with computerized wheel alignment equipment.
- Knowledge of steering, suspension and braking systems.
- Ability to perform systematic troubleshooting and identify the root cause of a problem.
- Ability to use workshop tools and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly.

Experience with wheel alignment, suspension diagnosis and computerized diagnostic equipment is highly desirable.

Qualifications

- ITI / Diploma / Degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
- Relevant practical workshop experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
- Valid driving licence is an advantage.
