Job Purpose To provide secure, compassionate and effective nursing care to patients by following established clinical protocols, hospital policies and standards of patient safety and quality care.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide direct nursing care to patients according to their clinical condition and the prescribed treatment plan.

- Monitor and record patients' vital signs, clinical condition and response to treatment accurately.

- Administer medications, injections, IV fluids and other treatments as prescribed by the treating physician.

- Ensure proper identification of patients before medication administration, procedures and investigations.

- Assist doctors during clinical procedures and provide necessary support during emergencies.

- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation, including nursing notes, medication charts, intake/output charts and other required records.

- Monitor patients for any deterioration or abnormal clinical findings and immediately report the same to the concerned doctor and Nursing In-charge.

- Follow infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene, PPE usage, biomedical waste segregation and aseptic techniques.

- Ensure proper care and handling of medical equipment, instruments and other hospital resources.

- Maintain cleanliness, safety and proper arrangement of the nursing station and patient-care areas.

- Provide appropriate patient and attender education regarding treatment, medication, procedures, hygiene and general care as instructed.

- Support patient admission,



transfer and discharge procedures and ensure proper handover of patient information.

- Conduct proper shift handover and communicate all relevant patient information to the incoming nursing staff.

- Respond promptly to emergency situations and participate in Code Blue and other emergency response procedures as trained.

- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and hospital records at all times.

- Comply with NABH standards, hospital policies, nursing protocols, statutory requirements and departmental instructions.

- Participate in nursing audits, quality improvement activities, training programs and competency assessments.

- Report medication errors, patient incidents, falls, infections and other adverse events immediately through the prescribed reporting mechanism.

- Maintain professional and respectful communication with patients, attendants, doctors and other healthcare professionals.

- Perform any other nursing-related duties assigned by the Nursing Superintendent, Nursing In-charge or authorized Management personnel.

Patient Safety & Quality Responsibilities

- Follow the Five Rights of Medication Administration and applicable medication-safety protocols.

- Ensure proper patient identification before providing care.

- Follow fall-prevention, pressure-injury prevention and other patient-safety protocols.

- Maintain accurate clinical documentation.

- Escalate critical findings and emergencies without delay.

- Follow infection-control and biomedical-waste management procedures.

- Participate in hospital quality and patient-safety initiatives.
