Key Responsibilities-

Crop Planning and Production Strategy:

- Develop annual and seasonal crop plans for fruits, vegetables, cereals, pulses and field crops including crop mix, acreage, sowing/planting schedules and harvesting windows aligned to market demand and climatic conditions.
- Determine production targets for yield and quality and translate them into operational plans, labour requirements and input budgets.
- Plan crop rotations, intercropping and soilhealth practices to optimise land use and longterm productivity.

Field Management:

- Oversee all cultivation activities including land preparation, bed formation, sowing/planting, staking/trellising, pruning, weeding, thinning and mulching as per agronomic best practices.
- Monitor crop growth stages, field conditions and plant health, take timely decisions on nutrient management, irrigation scheduling and cultural practices to achieve optimum growth.

Pest, Disease and Nutrient Management:

- Implement integrated pest management (IPM) and integrated nutrient management (INM) practices for fruits, vegetables, cereals, pulses and field crops using a combination of cultural, biological and chemical controls.
- Regularly scout fields for pests, diseases and physiological disorders, diagnose issues and deploy appropriate control measures within recommended preharvest intervals and label claims.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, calibration and application of crop protection products and fertilisers in line with regulatory, safety and foodsafety requirements.

Irrigation and Water Management:

- Design and manage irrigation schedules for each crop based on growth stage, soil type, weather and water availability, including use of drip/sprinkler systems.
- Oversee operation, maintenance and repair of irrigation infrastructure (pumps, pipelines, filters, valves, fertigation units) to avoid breakdowns and water wastage.
- Monitor water usage, promote efficient wateruse practices and comply with any relevant wateruse regulations or permits.

Harvesting and PostHarvest Handling:

- Plan and supervise harvesting operations to ensure timely harvest at optimum maturity for each fruits, vegetables, cereals, pulses and field crops.
- Oversee postharvest processes including sorting, grading, cleaning, cooling, curing (where applicable), packing, storage and dispatch to maintain quality and shelf life.
- Implement and monitor foodsafety and hygiene standards during harvesting and postharvest handling to minimise contamination and losses.

Team Management:

- Plan daily and seasonal manpower requirements and allocate work to farm workers and equipment operators across all operations.
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate farm staff, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs),



safety norms and productivity expectations.
- Foster a disciplined, safe and positive work culture, address grievances and promote skill development and multiskilling of the workforce.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Government Agricultural Universities, Private Agricultural Colleges and relevant institutions to identify, recruit and onboard suitable interns and trainees for agriculture operations, coordinate their practical training, work allocation, performance monitoring and skill development.

Equipment, Infrastructure and Maintenance:

- Oversee operation, routine maintenance and basic repair of farm machinery and equipment such as tractors, tillers, pumps and tools.
- Ensure regular servicing schedules, maintenance logs and safe operation of all mechanical, electrical and irrigation systems to minimise downtime and repair costs.
- Plan, implement, maintain and improve farm infrastructure including roads, storage sheds, packhouse, boundary, fencing, drainage.

Quality, Compliance and Safety:

- Ensure compliance with applicable agricultural, labour, health & safety and environmental regulations and any farm certifications (e.g.- organic, Global G.A.P., local foodsafety schemes) adopted by the organisation.
- Develop and enforce SOPs for safe handling of machinery, agrochemicals, tools and materials, conduct toolbox talks and regular safety trainings for staff.
- Monitor and document environmental impacts (soil health, water quality, biodiversity) and implement practices to minimise negative effects.

Documentation, Data and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate records of cropping plans, field operations, input usage, labour deployment, yields, quality parameters, pest/disease incidences and weather events.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield per acre, cost per acre, labour productivity, input cost, rejection percentage and postharvest output.
- Use basic digital tools (Google sheets, excel workbooks, ERP software) for data entry, analysis and reporting to management.

Financial and Commercial Support:

- Take full accountability of Profit & Loss including monitoring revenue, production costs, overheads, gross margins, operating margins and profitability by crop, farm unit and activity. Identify cost leakages and revenue-improvement opportunities, implement corrective actions and submit monthly P&L;, variance and profitability reports to management.
- Support preparation of annual budgets, including estimates for inputs, labour, repairs,



utilities and capital expenditure and track actual performance against budget.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely sourcing of seeds/seedlings, fertilisers, plant protection chemicals, packaging materials and spare parts at optimal cost, quality and availability.
- Liaise with vendors, aggregators on planning of harvest volumes, quality specifications, pricing and dispatch schedules.
- Initiate revenue enhancement, cost optimisation and commercial decision-making to achieve profitability and sustained profit generation.
- Identify, evaluate and facilitate the availing of eligible government subsidies, grants and incentive schemes for development, irrigation, machinery, protected cultivation, post-harvest infrastructure and other agricultural initiatives, ensure timely documentation, application submission, follow-up and compliance with applicable scheme requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelors/Masters degree in Agriculture / Horticulture / Agricultural Engineering or related field preferred, a diploma with 5 to 8 years experience can be considered.
- 3 to 8 years of handson experience in managing commercial horticulture/farm operations, preferably in fruits and vegetables (open field).
- Proven experience in supervising labour, managing multiple crops and delivering yield and quality targets within planned budgets.

Skills and Competencies:

- Strong technical knowledge of fruit and vegetable cultivation practices including agronomy, crop nutrition, pest and disease management and postharvest handling.
- Positive understanding of irrigation systems (drip/sprinkler), fertigation and wateruse efficiency principles for horticultural crops.
- Proficiency in planning, organising and monitoring operations with attention to detail and adherence to timelines.
- Effective peoplemanagement skills, including delegation, onthejob training, performance monitoring and conflict resolution for a diverse workforce.
- Basic financial and analytical skills for budgeting, cost control and interpreting performance data and reports.
- Ability to use basic computer applications (e.g.- Google sheets, excel workbooks, word processing, email, ERP software).
- Strong communication skills for coordination with management, suppliers, buyers and local stakeholders.

Physical and Working Conditions:

- Role involves extensive outdoor work in varying weather conditions, standing and walking for long periods and frequent bending, lifting and manual handling of materials and tools.
- Must be able to safely lift and carry moderate weights (e.g., produce crates, inputs, tools) as per company safety norms and operate or supervise operation of farm machinery when required.
- Work schedule may vary seasonally, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and peakseason overtime during critical operations such as planting and harvesting.
