1. Technical Architecture & Solution Design

Own the technical architecture for D365 F&O; engagements — defining the extension model, integration patterns, data migration approach, and DevOps framework for each project.

Author Technical Design Documents (TDDs) for all customisations, integrations, and data migration components — ensuring full traceability to functional specifications.

Review and challenge technical designs proposed by junior developers; enforce Microsoft best practices and no-overlayering compliance throughout.

Evaluate third-party ISV solutions and Azure services for fit within the F&O; ecosystem and recommend integration or replacement strategies.

2. X++ Development & Extensions

Lead X++ development across all in-scope modules — classes, tables, forms, data entities, workflows, batch jobs, services, and Electronic Reporting formats.

Implement all customisations using the F&O; extension model exclusively — Chain of Command (CoC), event handlers, delegate subscriptions, form extensions, and table extensions.

Develop and maintain custom data entities and composite entities for all DMF-based integrations and data migration pipelines.

Build SysOperation-based batch processing frameworks for high-volume Finance, SCM, Production, and Project Accounting transactions.

Develop and configure Electronic Reporting (ER) formats for localised financial documents, regulatory reports, and bank file formats (NACHA, MT940, BAI2, SEPA).

3. Integration Architecture & Development

Design and build integrations between D365 F&O; and third-party systems using OData REST APIs, DIXF recurring integrations, Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, and Azure Functions.

Configure and manage Dual-Write maps between D365 F&O; and Dataverse — including custom entity maps, filter expressions, and conflict resolution.

Build Power Automate flows and Power Apps connected to F&O; via virtual entities and OData — supporting client-facing portal and mobile scenarios.

Design and implement bank statement import formats (MT940, BAI2, custom CSV) for Cash & Bank Management automation.

Build AP invoice automation integrations (Continia, Kofax, or custom OCR connectors) connecting to the F&O; vendor invoice workflow.

4. AX 2012 to D365 F&O; Migration — Technical Lead

Lead the full technical stream of AX 2012 to D365 F&O; migration projects — from legacy codebase analysis through extension re-architecture, data migration design, and production cutover.

Perform AX 2012 customisation inventory — classify each object as: rewrite as F&O; extension, replace with standard F&O; functionality, or retire.

Re-architect AX overlay code into F&O; compliant extensions — table extensions, form extensions, class extensions, and CoC overrides.

Design and execute data migration using DMF — build data packages, transformation logic, staging-to-target pipelines, and error handling for all module data sets.

Manage trial data migration runs (minimum 2 full trial loads), validate results, and execute production cutover with zero-data-loss assurance.

Document all migration decisions, mapping logic, and known delta items in a technical migration runbook.
