Position Title: Security Guard
Department: Hospital Security & Safety
Location: Hospital Premises
Reports To: Security Supervisor / Security Manager
1. POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a protected, secure, and controlled hospital environment. This role requires adherence to hospital security protocols, patient-centric behavior, emergency-response readiness, CCTV and access-control monitoring, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The guard ensures protection of patients, visitors, staff, assets, and medical infrastructure through proactive surveillance and rapid incident response.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Premises Security & SurveillanceConduct regular patrols of all hospital zones including OPD, IPD, ICU, Emergency, Pharmacy, Parking, and Critical Equipment Rooms.
- Monitor CCTV feeds, access-control logs, biometric systems, and alarm panels.
- Immediately address suspicious activities, unauthorized access, or safety violations.
- Secure sensitive areas: OT complex, NICU, drug storage, biomedical waste area, and server rooms.
B. Access Control & Visitor ManagementEnforce hospital entry protocols for visitors, vendors, patients, and staff.
- Verify ID cards, issue visitor passes, maintain visitor logs, and ensure adherence to visiting hours.
- Assist with patient movement where required, without obstructing clinical operations.
C. Emergency Response & Safety ComplianceAct as first responder during Code Blue, Code Red, Code Pink, Code Black, and other emergency codes.
- Assist in fire evacuation drills, operate fire-fighting equipment, and follow hospital fire-safety SOPs.
- Report incidents using Incident Reporting System (IRS) and escalate as per hospital chain-of-command.
D. Patient-Centric ProtocolsMaintain a respectful, calm,
and empathetic attitude toward patients and families.
- Manage crowd control during peak OPD hours, emergency rush, or critical situations.
- Ensure privacy and confidentiality according to hospital ethical standards.
E. Asset & Property ProtectionSafeguard hospital property: medical equipment, ambulances, pharmaceuticals, supplies, and IT assets.
- Check inbound/outbound goods, verify gate passes, and prevent theft, loss, or damage.
3. TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Knowledge of modern security systems (CCTV, NVR/DVR, Access Control, Boom Barriers).
- Familiarity with hospital emergency codes and medical-facility risk zones.
- Ability to use handheld metal detectors, communication radios, and biometric scanners.
- Basic understanding of fire-safety systems (hydrants, smoke detectors, extinguishers).
- Incident reporting, log management, and digital security-system operations.

5. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10th/12th pass or equivalent.
- Preferably trained through a recognized security training program.
- Experience in hospital security or healthcare environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency handling.
6. SHIFT & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Rotational shifts (Morning / Evening / Night).
- Long periods of standing/walking during patrols.
- Exposure to hospital emergency environments.
7. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
