Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based at the NURA center in Kozhikode (Calicut). The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, visual acuity testing, binocular vision assessment, and screening for common ocular conditions. The role includes interpreting diagnostic test results, documenting findings in clinical systems, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient management.
The Optometrist will educate clients about eye health, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations aligned with NURA’s screening protocols.
Daily responsibilities also include maintaining equipment hygiene and calibration, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, and providing a professional, empathetic experience to every visitor.
Qualifications
- Recognized degree or diploma in Optometry from an accredited institution, with current registration as per applicable local regulations.
- Proficiency in conducting refraction, visual acuity assessment, basic binocular vision evaluation, and routine optometric tests.
- Experience in using diagnostic equipment (e.g., autorefractors, fundus cameras, slit lamps) and interpreting basic ophthalmic findings.
- Solid patient communication skills, including the ability to explain test results, preventive measures, and follow-up care in clear, non-technical language.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment, coordinating with physicians, technicians, and administrative staff.
- Attention to detail in clinical documentation, adherence to protocols, and commitment to infection control and safety standards.
- Previous experience in preventive health screening, eye care centers, or hospital-based ophthalmic services is an advantage.
- Comfort with using digital medical records and willingness to learn AI-enabled screening workflows and related technology.
- Flexibility to work full-time on-site schedules and contribute to a patient-centered, non-discriminatory care environment.
