Key Roles & Responsibilities
Operate lathe machines for turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving and other machining operations.
Read and understand engineering drawings and machining dimensions.
Perform job setting, tool selection and basic machine alignment.
Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds and depth of cut.
Use measuring instruments such as Vernier calliper, micrometre, bore gauge and dial gauge.
Check component dimensions during and after machining.
Handle large/heavy components safely using crane/handling equipment where required.
Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic preventive checks.
Achieve production targets while maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
Follow safety procedures and quality standards.
Recommended Qualification
ITI Fitter / Machinist / Turner preferred.
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering can also be considered.
Experience: 25 years for regularoperators; 5+ years for senior lathe operators.
Must be able to read engineering drawings.
Knowledge of measuring instruments is essential.
