Role OverviewAs a Mechanical Systems Engineer Intern, you will play a key role in shaping the design, form, and functionality of our next-generation electric vehicles. You will work closely with our engineering and product development teams to transform innovative ideas and sketches into detailed 3D models, functional prototypes, and production-ready designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate concepts, ideas, and 2D sketches into detailed 3D models and functional working prototypes.
- Develop exterior design concepts and convert design sketches into accurate 3D CAD models.
- Design and develop vehicle chassis systems, from initial concept through to functional working prototypes.
- Support form exploration and ideation through mock-ups, rapid 3D modeling, and physical prototype studies.
- Contribute to automotive component design, development, and 3D modeling using industry-standard CAD tools.
- Collaborate with external vendors, fabricators, and manufacturers to support prototyping, tooling, and production activities.
- Assist in evaluating prototypes and implementing design improvements based on testing and engineering feedback.
- Work closely with electrical,
electronics, and other engineering teams to ensure mechanical and system-level integration.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating 3D concept development, creative ideation, form exploration, and product design.
- Proficiency in at least one 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, Creo, or similar.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, including materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, fasteners, and mechanical assemblies.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle chassis and structural design is an added advantage.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet-metal work, or similar manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Ability to convert concepts and sketches into manufacturable mechanical designs.
- Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Ability to work with vendors and manufacturing partners for prototype development and production.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
