Job Description for the COBOL Contractor positions.
Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
6+ years development/enhancement experience.
Valuable Knowledge of MF-COBOL, JCL, Sort/Cosort, Linux/Unix, Shell scripting, Subversion, or similar code repository
Knowledge of database- Oracle/DB2, etc and SQL
Knowledge of XML, CICS etc. is an added advantage.
Valuable communication and problem-solving skills
Understand, functional and technical requirements of software programs/ modules.
Ability to work in an agile development environment where developers and testing personnel work closely together to ensure requirements are met or exceeded.




Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills working with technical and non-technical individuals.
Develop and document optimal codes for complex program requirements.
Develop codes for assigned unit of work/requirements within a program/module – functional & nonfunctional.
Ensure delivery of defect free codes to the next level or review/ QA team
Possess robust understanding of coding best practices.
Adhere to timelines and processes while developing and documenting codes.
Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems.
Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
Ensure compliance to pre-defined coding best practices to meet quality and timelines of delivery.
