Title: Assistant Manager - Plant & Machinery (Purchase)
Reports To: Manager - Plant & Machinery / Head of Supply Chain

Core Responsibilities
Sourcing & Procurement
Find and buy heavy construction equipment (e.g., earthmoving, lifting, and concrete machinery).
Research current suppliers to get the best prices and quality.
Analyze purchase bids and costs to stay within the budget.
Handle import paperwork for overseas machinery purchases.
Rental & Sub-Contracting
Rent specialized machinery for short-term project needs.
Manage equipment rental agreements and renewals.
Compare the cost of buying vs. renting to save money.
Vendor Management
Build robust relationships with equipment dealers and parts suppliers.
Negotiate Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) for regular machine upkeep.
Rate vendors based on delivery time, machine quality, and repair services.
Inventory & Asset Tracking
Manage the spare parts inventory to prevent project delays.
Track the location, usage,



and condition of all machinery across different project sites.
Manage the disposal and auction of old or broken machinery.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all purchased or rented machinery meets safety standards.
Keep track of equipment licenses, insurance, and pollution control certificates.

Required Qualifications
Education: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
Experience: 5 to 8 years in the construction or heavy equipment industry.

Skills Needed: Negotiation, Equipment Knowledge, Vendor Management, and basic Cost Accounting.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Cost Savings: The money you save by finding cheaper but reliable suppliers.
Equipment Downtime: How many days projects are delayed because a machine was broken.
Vendor TAT (Turnaround Time): How quick suppliers deliver spare parts or repair services.
Budget Variance: Keeping actual equipment costs within the estimated budget.
