Job Description: Graduate Engineer Apprentice - Locomotive Field

Position Title:
Graduate Engineer Apprentice

Department:
Locomotive Maintenance

Gandhidham

Reporting To:
Service Technical Manager

Job Purpose:
To support the maintenance and operation activities of locomotives while gaining hands-on experience and technical knowledge under the guidance of senior specialists.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in routine inspection and preventive maintenance of locomotives.
Support troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic & heavy repair.
Maintain the reports with shed control team
Aid in identifying faults and reporting issues to supervisors.
Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities, checklists and shed operation activity of locomotive.
Follow safety standards and compliance guidelines strictly.
Support breakdown maintenance and emergency repair activities.
Participate in training sessions and technical workshops.
Coordination with Prompt response team during locomotive operations

Educational Qualifications:




B.Tech in:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering

Skills & Competencies:
Basic understanding of locomotive systems / diesel engines:
Solid mechanical aptitude
Willingness to learn and adapt
Valuable observation and problem-solving skills
Basic knowledge of tools and equipment
Teamwork and communication skills

Experience:
Freshers pass out 2025/ 2026
Prior internship/ in railways or heavy machinery is an advantage

Key Attributes:
High level of discipline and safety awareness
Physically fit for fieldwork
Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
Ability to work in shifts
