AS400 / IBM i Developer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced AS400 / IBM i Developer with strong hands-on experience in RPG/RPGLE, CL/CLLE, DB2 for i, and AS400/IBM i environments.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting business applications running on the IBM i platform.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance applications on AS400 / IBM i.
Develop and maintain programs using RPG, RPGLE, and CL/CLLE.
Work extensively with DB2 for i / DB2 database.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
Analyze business requirements and convert them into technical solutions.
Perform application development, modification, debugging, and production support.
Troubleshoot application and database-related issues.
Perform code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and defect fixing.
Develop and maintain batch jobs and job schedules.
Work with IBM i system objects, libraries, jobs, files, and subsystems.
Perform data analysis, data fixes, and application enhancements.
Develop interfaces and integrations between AS400 applications and external systems.
Work with APIs, web services,



or middleware where required.
Prepare technical documentation and support deployment activities.
Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
Participate in production support and incident/problem management.

Mandatory Skills
Solid experience in AS400 / IBM i development.
Hands-on experience with RPG / RPGLE.
Robust knowledge of CL / CLLE.
Strong experience with DB2 for i.
Good knowledge of SQL.
Experience with application development, maintenance, and production support.
Good understanding of AS400 architecture, libraries, objects, jobs, and batch processing.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Positive to Have
Experience with RPGLE Free Format / Fully Free RPG.
Knowledge of ILE RPG.
Experience with Embedded SQL / SQLRPGLE.
Knowledge of DB2 stored procedures.
Experience with Web Services / REST APIs.
Knowledge of XML / JSON.
Experience with MQ / IBM MQ.
Knowledge of Git / version control.
Experience with Jenkins or CI/CD.
Knowledge of Control-M / job scheduling tools.
Experience in modernization of legacy AS400 applications.
Exposure to Java, .NET, or cloud integration is an advantage.
