Job Title: Engine Design Engineer

Function: R&D; – Powertrain / Engine Engineering

Experience: 5–10 years

Location: Chennai

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering

Role Purpose,

Responsible for the design, development and engineering of engine components and systems, ensuring performance, reliability, manufacturability and compliance with applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities,
Design and development of engine components such as cylinder head, cylinder block, crankshaft, connecting rod, piston, timing system, lubrication and cooling systems.
Prepare 3D models, 2D drawings, GD&T; and engineering specifications.
Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up and basic engineering analysis.
Work closely with CAE, testing, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and suppliers.
Support DFMEA, design reviews, validation and verification activities.
Analyse field failures and implement design improvements.




Ensure designs meet cost, weight, performance, durability and reliability targets.
Support prototype development, testing and productionisation.
Manage engineering changes through appropriate ECR/ECN processes.
Coordinate with suppliers for component development and technical issues.
Ensure compliance with relevant emission, safety and regulatory requirements.
Technical Skills
Robust knowledge of IC engines / diesel / petrol engines.
Engine component design and development.
Proficiency in CATIA / Creo / UG-NX.
Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance analysis and DFM/DFA.
Understanding of FEA/CAE and engine testing.
Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and metallurgy.
Valuable understanding of NVH, thermal management, lubrication and combustion fundamentals
