VisionAstraa EV Academy

Gujarat

About Us: VisionAstraa EV Academy is a pioneer in the Electric Vehicle Skilling & Talent development domain. We work with over 40+ EV companies (big & small) across India who get top talent in EV Industry from us. Currently, we are posting this job for a new company & investor with deep pockets entering the EV 2W industry with a strong presence in Western India (Gujarat & Maharashtra).

Hiring Company: Electric Two-Wheeler (2W) Startup

Location: Gujarat - with travel across dealership and service locations Reports to: Founder & CEO Type: Full time, on-site (leadership) Direct reports: Heads of Sales, Service/After-Sales, Supply Chain, HR, Marketing, Finance/Ops, and Dealership Network

About the Role

We are building an electric two-wheeler sales and service business across Gujarat, with a growing network of dealerships and service centers. The Chief Operating Officer will be the single point of accountability for building and running the entire operation on the ground — from setting up dealerships and service infrastructure, to hiring and managing teams, to establishing OEM and spare-parts supply chains, to owning the customer experience and the operational P&L.;

This is a builder's role. You will take the business from an early setup phase to a scaled, multi-location, profitable operation. You will be as comfortable negotiating an OEM supply agreement as you are walking a service center floor to fix a turnaround-time problem.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Operations & Strategy

- Own end-to-end operations across all sales and service locations in Gujarat, and translate the founder's vision into an executable operating plan.
- Build the operating roadmap: location rollout sequencing, staffing plan, capex/opex phasing, and milestones.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sales, service, inventory, and customer handling that are repeatable across every new location.
- Own the operational P&L; drive unit economics per store/service center (contribution margin, service revenue per bay, cost-per-lead, cost-to-serve).

2. Dealership Network - Setup & Expansion

- Plan and execute the rollout of multiple dealerships across Gujarat: site selection, lease negotiation, showroom fit-out, and go-live.
- Define the dealership model (company-owned vs. franchise/COCO/FOFO) and the economics and terms for each format.
- Build the onboarding, training, and performance-management framework for dealer partners and their staff.
- Set and monitor sales targets, showroom conversion, and dealer-level profitability.

3. Service Center Setup & After-Sales

- Design and set up service centers: layout, equipment (including EV-specific diagnostic and battery-handling tooling), safety compliance, and manpower.
- Establish after-sales SOPs - service turnaround time (TAT), first-time-right rate, warranty handling, and periodic maintenance schedules.
- Build the technician training program for EV powertrains, batteries, controllers, and charging systems.
- Ensure safety and statutory compliance for high-voltage battery handling, storage, and disposal.

4. OEM & Supplier Management

- Build and manage relationships with OEM(s) and component suppliers; negotiate supply agreements, pricing, credit terms, warranty terms, and delivery SLAs.
- Manage vehicle allocation, order forecasting, and demand planning with OEM partners.
- Establish quality-control and issue-escalation processes with suppliers.

5. Supply Chain & Logistics (EV Parts)

- Set up the end-to-end supply chain for vehicles, spare parts, and consumables - inbound logistics, central/regional warehousing, and last-mile distribution to service centers.
- Build spare-parts inventory planning to balance availability against working capital (fill rate, days-of-inventory, dead-stock control).
- Manage logistics for batteries and hazardous/high-value components, including safe transport and storage compliance.
- Identify and onboard 3PL/logistics partners where appropriate.

6. Manpower, Hiring & Org Building

- Own workforce planning across all functions and locations; hire, structure, and scale the team from early-stage to full operation.
- Build the organizational structure, roles, JDs, incentive/commission plans, and performance-review cadence.
- Partner with HR to establish recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, and culture practices.

7. Customer Relations & Experience

- Own the customer journey end-to-end - pre-sale, purchase, financing/registration support, delivery, and after-sales.
- Establish CRM processes, complaint-resolution SLAs, NPS/CSAT tracking, and feedback loops into product and operations.
- Build a customer-experience standard that becomes a differentiator in a competitive EV 2W market.

8. Finance, Budgeting & Governance

- Prepare and own annual operating budgets and rolling forecasts; report performance against plan to the founder and board.
- Drive cost discipline and cash/working-capital efficiency (inventory, receivables, payables).
- Maintain dashboards and MIS for real-time visibility into sales, service, inventory, and cost metrics.

9. Regulatory, Compliance & Government Schemes

- Ensure compliance across RTO/vehicle registration, GST, labour laws, fire/safety, and pollution/environmental norms relevant to EV operations.
- Stay current on and leverage EV incentive schemes (central FAME-type schemes and the Gujarat State EV Policy), and factor subsidies into pricing and go-to-market.
- Manage relationships with local authorities, RTO, and regulatory bodies.

10. Technology & Systems

- Select and implement core operating systems: Dealer Management System (DMS), CRM, inventory/ERP, and service-management tooling.
- Drive data-led decision-making across sales, service, and supply chain.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- 12–18+ years of operations experience, with a strong track record in multi-location retail, automotive, EV, or dealership/distribution operations.
- 5+ years of operations experience in Automotive Industry
- Demonstrated experience setting up operations from the ground up - new locations, teams, and processes - ideally in a high-growth or startup environment.
- Proven experience managing service/after-sales networks and supply chain/spare-parts operations.
- Strong commercial acumen: has owned a P&L; and managed budgets, unit economics, and working capital.
- Experience negotiating with OEMs, suppliers, and channel/dealer partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Gujarat - market, geography, language (Gujarati/Hindi), and local business/regulatory environment - is a significant advantage.

Skills and Competencies

- Hands-on, execution-first operator who is comfortable in showrooms and on the service floor, not only in the boardroom.
- Strong people leader who can hire, build, and retain teams across locations.
- Data-driven decision-maker with sharp financial and analytical judgment.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder-management, and communication skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the pace of an early-stage, scaling business.
- Working knowledge of EV technology (batteries, powertrain, charging) — or the ability to ramp quickly.
