Role Overview

The School Librarian is a key figure in fostering a love for reading, critical thinking, and research across the entire school community. You will curate a agile library collection, support inquiry-based learning, and ensure the library serves as a hub for intellectual and cultural growth in line.

Key Responsibilities

Library Management:
n
Organize and maintain a well-resourced library collection to support the IB curricula.
n
Ensure library resources are up-to-date, diverse, and accessible in various formats (print, digital, multimedia).
n
Develop policies and procedures for library use and resource management.
n
Teaching & Collaboration:
n
Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into unit plans and classroom activities.
n
Provide instruction on research skills, academic honesty, and digital literacy.
n
Foster inquiry-based learning by guiding students in accessing, evaluating, and utilizing resources effectively.
n
Literacy & Reading Promotion:
n
Cultivate a love for reading through storytelling, book clubs, reading challenges, and author visits.
n
Recommend age-appropriate and diverse reading materials to students and staff.
n
Organize events like book fairs,



literary weeks, and workshops to engage the school community.
n
Technology Integration:
n
Leverage digital tools and platforms to enhance research and learning experiences.
n
Manage online databases, e-resources, and the library's digital catalog.
n
Promote responsible use of technology and information ethics.
n
Community Engagement:
n
Serve as a resource for parents and the wider school community to support lifelong learning.
n
Create a welcoming and inclusive setting for all library users.
n
Actively participate in career development and contribute to the global IB librarian network.

Qualifications & Skills

n

n
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
n
Experience:
n
Prior experience as a librarian in an IB school is highly desirable.
n
Skills:
n
Expertise in managing print and digital resources.
n
Proficiency in teaching research and digital literacy skills.
n
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
n
Familiarity with library management systems and educational technology tools
