Position: Chief Engineer

Reporting To: General Manager / Management
Experience: Minimum 5–8 Years in Hotel Engineering
Employment Type: Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering & Maintenance operations of the hotel.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient operation of all hotel engineering systems, utilities, equipment and facilities while maintaining high standards of guest comfort, safety and statutory compliance.

Hotel industry experience is mandatory. Candidates from hotels/hospitality properties will be preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Engineering Operations

- Overall responsibility for the hotel's Engineering & Maintenance operations.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of all engineering systems and equipment.
- Monitor Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, DG, STP, Fire & Safety and other utility systems.
- Ensure timely preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Handle engineering-related emergencies and breakdowns effectively.

2. Electrical & Power Systems

- Supervise electrical installations and daily operations.
- Monitor DG sets, transformers, panels, electrical distribution and backup power systems.
- Ensure proper preventive maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Monitor electricity consumption and identify opportunities for energy saving.

3. HVAC & Guest Comfort

- Ensure proper functioning of AC/HVAC systems throughout the hotel.
- Monitor chillers, AHU, FCU, ventilation and related equipment.
- Respond promptly to guest-room and public-area engineering complaints.

4. Plumbing & Water Systems

- Supervise hot and cold water systems, pumps, tanks and plumbing networks.
- Ensure regular maintenance and quick resolution of leakage/breakdown issues.
- Monitor water consumption and maintain efficient water management.

Preventive Maintenance

- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain equipment history and maintenance records.
- Ensure timely servicing of critical equipment.
- Minimize breakdowns and equipment downtime.

6. Fire & Life Safety

- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of Fire & Life Safety systems.
- Coordinate regular inspection/testing of fire pumps, fire alarms, emergency systems and related equipment.
- Ensure compliance with hotel safety standards and statutory requirements.
- Support fire drills and emergency preparedness programs.

7. Team Management

- Lead, supervise and develop the Engineering team.
- Prepare duty rosters and allocate responsibilities.
- Conduct regular briefings and technical training.
- Monitor team performance, discipline and grooming.
- Coordinate with all HODs for engineering-related requirements.

8. Vendor & Contractor Management

- Coordinate with external vendors and service contractors.
- Verify quality of maintenance and repair work.
- Monitor AMC/Service contracts.
- Ensure proper documentation of vendor visits and completed work.

9. Energy & Cost Control

- Monitor electricity, fuel and water consumption.
- Implement energy-saving initiatives.
- Control engineering-related operating costs without compromising guest comfort or safety.
- Maintain proper inventory of engineering spares and consumables.

10. Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain engineering logs, checklists and maintenance records.
- Ensure proper documentation of breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain statutory certificates, inspection records and compliance documents.




- Prepare regular engineering reports for management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

- Diploma / Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering field.
- Relevant technical certification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant hotel engineering experience.
- Previous experience as Chief Engineer / Assistant Chief Engineer / Engineering Manager in a hotel will be preferred.

- Strong focus on guest safety, comfort and operational efficiency.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENT

HOTEL INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY.

Candidates from Hotels / Resorts / Hospitality Properties will only be considered.

Experience from manufacturing, factory, construction or non-hospitality industries without relevant hotel engineering experience will not be preferred.
