About Educate Girls
Educate Girls is a non-profit organization working to ensure girls' enrollment, retention, and learning in some of India's most educationally challenged communities. We are looking for a dedicated finance professional to support district-level financial operations and ensure compliance with organizational and statutory requirements.
Role Overview
The District Finance & Accounts Specialist will be responsible for managing district finance operations, maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, monitoring budgets, ensuring statutory compliance, and coordinating audits. The position will work closely with district and state teams to ensure smooth financial management and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Bookkeeping
- Record all financial transactions accurately and timely in Tally ERP.
- Process payments and receipts as per organizational policies.
- Pass journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts.
Banking & Cash Management
- Manage district bank accounts and banking transactions.
- Prepare periodic bank reconciliation statements.
- Ensure proper tracking and utilization of district funds.
Budgeting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly fund requests in coordination with district teams.
- Monitor budget utilization and prepare variance reports.
- Provide financial data and reports for decision-making.
Compliance & Statutory Requirements
- Ensure timely deduction and payment of TDS and other statutory dues.
- Maintain compliance with applicable financial regulations and organizational policies.
- Support documentation and reporting requirements.
Audit Coordination
- Act as the district focal point for internal and external audits.
- Coordinate with auditors and provide required records and documents.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations.
Desired Candidate Profile
- B.Com in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2–3 years of experience in finance and accounts, preferably in the development/social sector.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Experience in budgeting, banking, payroll support, audit coordination, vendor payments, and fund management.
- Working knowledge of Tally ERP, MS Excel, Word, and other MS Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Valuable communication skills in Hindi and English.
- Willingness to travel within operational areas as required.
